H. S. DIMOGK.
LIQUID COOLER. No. 277,689. Patented May 15,1883.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
HENRY S. DIMOGK, OF PHELPS, NEW YORK.
LIQUID-COOLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 277,689, dated May 15, 1883.
Application filed February 23,1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY S. DDIOCK, of Phelps, in the county of Ontario, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coolers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain improvements in liquid-coolers, and it is designed for cooling liquids of various descriptions-such as water, milk, malt liquors, or other similar fluids-without permitting the same to come into contact with the ice employed in cooling, or with the drip-water resulting from the melting of the ice.
The above-mentioned objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which is represented a vertical sectional view of my improved cooler.
The letter A in the said drawing indicates acooler, constructed of metal or other suitable material, consisting of a vertical ice chamber or box, a, having an inner inclined wall, I), as
indicated, so as to support the ice, and a horizontal drip chamber, 0, in which the drip-water collects from the melted ice, and from which it may be removed in any convenient manner.
The letter 13 indicates a casing or chamber of any suitable material, being represented in the present instance of an outer chamber having a metallic lining. The said chamber is preferably of rectangular shape, and the ice and drip chamber of proper shape to fit therein. The said chamber B is designed to contain the water or other material to be cooled, and is provided with a detachable top, 0, by which it may be closed when charged, or may be opened for charging.
The letter D indicates an eduction-opening leading to a suitable cool; or faucet, by means of which the contents of the cooling-chamber may be drawn off. The ice and drip chamber, being removable, may be taken out to be emptied or for cleaning whenever required.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
1. The combination, in a liquid-cooler, of an outer or inclosing chamber provided with a cover, a lining, and a discharge-pipe, with an inner iceand drip chamber consisting of a verticallydisposed section having a converging wall and a horizontal section communicat i'ng therewith, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. The combination, in a water-cooler, of an outer inclosing-vessel with an inclosed metallic ice and drip chamber, consisting of the vertical section having one of its walls inclined, whereby the ice is supported, and the horizontal section connected to and communicating therewith and adapted to receive the drippings, substantially asdescribed.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 21st day of November, 1882.
H. S. DIMOOK.
Witnesses:
D. D. EDGERTON, JOHN H. HoLMEs.
