1 Claim. (Cl. 281-1) This invention relates to score card construction, the primary object of the invention being to provide a score card wherein corners thereof are bent laterally and formed with registered openings for the reception of a pencil used by the scorekeeper, for recording the scores of the game, thereby maintaining the pencil in a convenient place readily accessible for use.

Another important object of the invention is to provide a foldable score card wherein certain over-lapping corners thereof are apertured and may be folded to a position at right angles to the face of the score card thereby providing a support for a pencil used in marking the score on the card, to the end that the pencil will be convenient and readily accessible at all times.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a foldable score card wherein the pencil will provide means for normally holding the foldable card in its folded condition.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Referring to the drawings:

Figure l is an elevational view of a score card constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is an elevational view illustrating the reverse side of the score card.

Figure 3 is an elevational view of a score card wherein the hingedly connected sections thereof are folded upon themselves to close the score card.

Figure 5 is a fragmental elevational view illustrating a modified form of the invention.

Figure 6 is a fragmental elevational view illustrating a further modified form of the invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail:

The reference character 5 indicated generally a score card which is folded upon itself along the line 6 providing scoring sections 7 which are ruled and provided with indicating characters for the particular use of the scoring card.

The outer upper corner of each scoring section is folded along the line 8, providing tabs 9 which, when folded upwardly as indicated by Figure 3 of the drawings, provide supports for a pencil such as indicated at 10', the tabs being provided with openings 11 for the reception of the pencil used with the score card.

When the score card is folded along the line 6, and the tabs 9 are brought together, it will be seen that a pencil extended through the registered openings 10 thereof will act as a means for holding the score card in its folded condition.

It will also be noted that with the pencil in this position, the person using the core card will have ready access to the pencil at all times, eliminating any possibility of the pencil falling to the oor or becoming lost.

In the form of the invention as shown in Figure 5 of the drawings, the sections of the score card are provided with tabs 12 that extend from the upper edge of the score card, the tabs 12 having openings 13. The tabs 12 of the scoring sections when brought into contact with each other, and the openings 13 in alignment, provide a support for a pencil which is inserted therein.

As shown by Figure 6 of the drawings, a card 14 is provided and folded along a line 15 providing scoring sections 16 and 17. The scoring section 17 is provided with a slot 18 in which the tab 19 of the section 16, extends, the tab 19 having an opening 20 for the reception of a pencil which when inserted therein will hold the sections of the scoring card in their folded positions.

As shown by Figure 7 of the drawings, a scoring card indicated by the reference character 19 is provided, and one corner of the scoring card is folded along the line 20 and extended at right angles with respect to the surface of the score card. In this form of the invention, an opening 21 is provided, and portions of the score card adjacent to the opening 21 are formed with slits 22 providing pivoted gripping tongs 23 that grip a pencil forced into the opening, to prevent the pencil from becoming accidentally disconnected from the score card.

As shown by Figure 8 of the drawings, one corner of the score card 24 is separated from the main portion of the score card by the slot 25 providing a tab 26, and this tab is folded along the line 27 so that when the tab Z6 is extended laterally to a position at right angles with respect to the surface of the score card, the tab will receive a pencil to hold the pencil against accidental displacement. y

From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction as shown and described, I have provided a score card wherein tabs are formed at the corners thereof, so that when the scoring surfaces of the score card have been moved into contact with each other and the tabs overlie each other, the openings of the tabs will register to receive a pencil which is used with the score card in recording the score of the game.

It will also be seen that when the tabs are formed at opposite corners of the score card and folded one upon the other, the pencil which is positioned within the registered openings of the tabs, will prevent the score card from becoming accidentally opened.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed A score card comprising a rectangular relatively stiif sheet, one face of said sheet having printed thereon indicia and spaced lines, there being two groups of indicia and two groups of spaced lines, a score line extending between the upper and lower edges of said sheet and disposed midway between the side edges of said sheet, said sheet also having a diagonally disposed score line across each upper corner whereby a triangular tab may be bent upwardly and at right angles to said sheet, said sheet having an opening through each tab to receive and hold a pencil used in placing scores between said lines, the openings in said tabs registering upon bending of said sheet along said iirst mentioned score lines.
