The above and other objects may be attained by employing this invention which means encounters a submerged obstacle.

Referring to the drawings in detail, a conventional outboard motor boat designated generally 10 comprises a hull 12 havinga bow 14 and a conventional stern trana transversely extending substantially U-shaped handle y means of which the d handled. Lugs 34 project outwardly from the bed plate 26 adjacent the upper end thereof and are provided with openings for th U-shaped body carrying an elongated plate 42 which slides in the guide- Ways 30 and a spaced parallel pad 44 which extends upwardly and over th of the motor M submerged below the bottom of the boat.
