ibodyf'structurefof thebr'acket maybeformed lwith cor- -rugationfy sections-"611m -re'inforce' and strengthen the same for purposes offrigidity.
At its upper portion a section of the metal of the bracket 4 is struck laterally therefrom to provide the head rail supporting shelf 7 which also may have apertures 8 for screws to pass through to facilitate attachment of the head rail thereto.
A typical form of head rail is designated at 9 and shown in Figures l, 2 and 3 of the drawings.
At the front or outer edge of the bracket 4, or the edge opposite that having the mounting ange 5 thereon, there is located the curtain rod supporting bracket member 10 which may be mounted on the body of the bracket by means of a rivet 11 and by means of a lug 12 struck out from the bracket body and interlocked in a notch portion 13 on the inner end of the bracket member 10, or on an inwardly extending extension 10a of said member 10. The outer end of the bracket member 10 is provided with a notch 14 in its upper edge to provide a seat for one end of a curtain rod 15 that may be mounted upon a pair of bracket members 10 carried by a pair of brackets 4 secured to opposite sides of the frame of a window, as obvious from Figures l and 2.
It is essential to the inventions that the upper and lower horizontal edge portions of the brackets 4 shall be free in order that they may be forced into the space between the anges 3 and the outer body portions of the facia, as the facia is pushed rearwardly onto the said brackets when disposed upon the window frame in attached positions. Thus, a movement rearwardly of the ,P d i facia with its extension A by which the said extensions are engaged with and over the upper and lower edges of the brackets 4 will cause the sliding of the said extensions A onto the brackets, and effect a wedging interengagement of the upper and lower outer corner portions of the bracket in the wedging spaces B between the bent flange portions 3a and the body portions of the facia. In other words, the portions of the brackets 4 just mentioned are adapted to impinge in these wedging spaces with the parts of the anges 3a that converge outwardly towards the body of the facia extensions A and by frictional engagement in the manner stated, the facia will be firmly maintained in interlocked engagement w1th the brackets without the necessity of having recourse to any additional fastening means whatsoever. In other words, the upper and lower edges of the brackets 4 at the portions opposite the mounting ange 5, or adjacent the edge opposite the mounting ange 5 will effect a locking engagement of the facia extensions A on the bracket in the manner above stated.
If it is desirable at any time to detach the facia A, a sufficient outward pull thereof from the central portion will disengage the end extensions A from the brackets 4 and at the same time enable the bodily removal of the Venetian blind head rail curtain rod supported on the bracket members 10.
Figure 5 shows a modifled form of bracket member 10, designated 10a, in which said member is stamped out of the material from which the body plate of the bracket 4a, in integral formation with the latter.
It may be desirable at times to avail of the bracket and facia combination means of the invention for supporting a shade or curtain roller. Under such conditions it is desirable that the roller be mounted at a height on the bracket 4 about where the interchangeable Venetian blind head rail is ordinarily located. With this in view, there may be provided an attachable shade roller pintle supporting bracket member 16, such as shown in Figure 7 of the drawing. The member 16 is provided with the bracket arm 17 extending vertically therefrom and formed with the slotted portions to receive the at pintle member located at one end of a shade roller, as commonly used. Two projections, stamped downwardly from the base plate of the member 16 and of hook-like formation, may be caused to enter the openings 8 in the head rail shelf 7 of the bracket 4 and thus interlock the member 16 to the latter, when the head rail is removed, and a curtain or shade roller is to be mounted in place on the brackets 4 instead of said head rail. The bracket member 16 constructed to receive the round pintle at one end of a shade roller may be provided at its vertical arm 17 with an aperture instead of the slot which is shown in Figure 7, such construction being mechanically obvious.
Of course, it will be understood that the combination of parts including the facia A and brackets 4 may be availed of without the use of the curtain rod supporting means shown or with it, as found desirable.
4 Having thus described my invention, what I claim as `new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A mounting bracket of the class described, cornprising in combination, a body having a mounting member formed therewith, said body being engageable with a facia at opposite edges thereof, a shelf formed integrally with the body and pressed therefrom so as to extend at substantially right angles thereto, said shelf being provided with spaced openings and being adapted to sup- Jort a head rail thereon, and a removable shade supportmg bracket member seated on said shelf, said member having a base plate engaging said shelf and a bracket arm formed therewith extending vertically therefrom, said )ase plate being formed with hook-like members engaged n the spaced openings in the shelf aforesaid.
2. The combination as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base plate of the removable bracket member is substantially co-extensive with the shelf, and the hook-like members are formed at one edge of the base plate, and extended downwardly therefrom into the spaced openings 1in the shelf which are located near the free edge of the atter.
3. In facia and bracket equipment, the combination of a facia for window mounting, said facia being provided with ends, each of said ends formed with a bracket receiving portion, and a pair of brackets each having a body, each of said bodies having a mounting member attachabie to a window frame, the body portion of each of the brackets being substantially completely received in one of the bracket receiving portions of the facia ends, to hold the facia detachably in position on the brackets, each of said brackets being formed with a shelf extending toward the other bracket, and a shade supporting bracket carried by each of said shelves, each shelf having a vertical opening near its free edge, and each shade bracket having a base portion having at least one downwardly and laterally extending hook-like projection to interlock in said opening, and a shade supporting member extending up from the bracket.
