JOSEPH L. STRAUSS,OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NECKSCARF.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 268,053, dated November as, 1882.
Application filed September 16, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH L. STRAUSS, of New York, county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckwear-Scarfs; and Iv do hereby declare that the following is a clear and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to so form the front of a scarf that the same presents the appearance of a laced shirt-bosom.
Referring to the drawing, the figure represents a front View of a scarf embodying my invention.
A represents a scarf of usual construction, with the exception that the front piece, I), in this case is made of or in two parts, 0 0?. These two'parts c d are held together by the lacecord 6, which passes through the eyelet-holes f, and is tied at the top of the front piece into a bow-knot, g.
The lacing may or may not begin at the bottom of the front piece, and the two parts 0 01 may be held together by stitches.
To give the front piece the appearance of a shirtbosom, I run two or more rows of stitching, it, on each of the parts 0 d, as shown inthe drawing.
The front piece of the scarf may be made of any material, and any kind of lace-cording may be used.
1 am aware that the same result may be accomplished by stamping the outlines of the lacing and stitching upon the front piece of a scarf. 1 am also aware that the same result can be accomplished without forming the front piece in two parts.
Having thus described my invention, I do sire to claim- 1. In a neckwear-scarf, the front piece, I), made of two pieces and provided with eyelets f, lace-cord e, and stitching h, so as to give the front piece the appearance of a laced shirt-bosom, as andfor the purpose set forth.
2. In a neckwear-scarf, the front piece, b,
given the appearance of a laced ShlIbbOSOlIl V by stitching or stamping the outlines upon the same, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
