An important. object. of the invention is. to; pmvide a rigid internalhollow-protector for the sides and visor of a, cap to prevent bending or crushing thereof and also to providethe protector'with a closure atgthe underside of the; cap to form a compartment on the inside of the cap and within. which various articles maybe packed andfurther to provide a. covering for the outer surfac of'the cap and which is constructed as apart'of. the in;- ternal cap protector.

Still anotherobject ofthe invention is to. provide a covering for the outer surface of the cap constructed as a part of the internal cap protector which employs the use of either a drawstring or elastic means for arranging and securing the covering over the outer surface of the cap.

Still further objects of the invention are to provide a cap protector that is of simple and practical construction, neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the invention is intended.

These, together with the various ancillary objects of the invention whichwill become apparent as the following description proceeds, are attained by this cap protector a preferred embodiment of which has been illustrated in the accom panying drawings, by way of example, wherein:

cap at its underside to form a compartment therein and in which various articles may be packed and retained therein by closing the zipper fastener l4.

Referring to Figures 1 and 2 a covering of cloth or other suitable material is formed in one piece and is sewn along its periphery to the top section l2. However, the top covering 25 is not completely attached along its entire periphery to the top section 12 and hence forms an opening as is indicated at 26. As seen in Figure l the seam connecting the top covering 25 to the top section I2 extends from the terminal side portions of the visor, substantially along the dotted line 4|. The edge of the top covering 25 along the opening 26 is provided with an insert of elastic material as illustrated at 27. Hence, after the inner protector has been placed in the cap it is merely necessary to pull the top covering by the edge containing the elastic material over the edge of the visor and rigid visor protector, as is best shown in Figure 2.

With reference now to Figures 3 and 4 wherein is shown a modified form of the invention it will be seen that the cover generally designed by the reference. numeral 29 is provided with an opening 30 and the-edge of the covering 29 adjacent the opening 30 is provided with drawstrings 3| and 32 which may be pulled tight as is best illustrated in Figure 4 so as to fasten the cover over the visor to protect the front of the cap.

Since from the foregoing, the construction and advantages of these forms of the invention may be readily understood, further description is believed to be unnecessary.

However, since numerous modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the foregoing specification and accompanying drawings, it is not intended to limit the invention to the precise embodiments shown and described, and all suitable modifications and equivalents may be readily resorted to which fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new 152 1. A cap protector comprising in combination a hollow body forming a compartment conforming to the interior of a cap and adapted for removably placing therein, said cap including a visor at the front of the cap and said cap protector including a visor protector secured to the front portion of the hollow body and adapted to underlie the visor of said c p, a flexible cover for covering the outer surface of the cap and permanently secured to said hollow body in the region of the side and rear portions of the latter, said cover being unattached at its front portion to provide an opening to receive the cap, and said cover being of an area adapted to overlie and cover the outer surface of the cap and to overlie and cover the top of the visor, and means securing the unattached portion of the cover to the visor protector to close the opening.

A cap protector comprising in combination, a hollow body forming a compartment conforming to the interior of a cap and adapted'for removably placing therein, said Cap including a visor at the front of the cap, a flexible cover of an area adapted to overlie and. cover the outer surface of the cap and to overlie and cover the visor and permanently secured to said hollow body in the region of the'side andrearportions of the latter, said cover. being unattached at its front portion to providean opening adapted to receive the cap, said cap protector including a visor protector secured to the front portion of the hollow body and adapted to underlie the visor of said cap, the unattached portion of the cover being stretchable over the edges of both the visor of the cap and over the visor protector, and an elastic member carried along the edge of the unattached portion of the cover and said edge being engageable under the visor protector to close the opening.

A cap protector comprising in combination, a hollow body forming a compartment conforming to the interior of a cap and adapted for removably placing therein, said cap including a visor at the front of the cap, a flexible cover of an area adapted to overlie and cover the outer surface of the cap and to overlie and cover the visor and permanently secured to said hollow body in the region of'the side and rear portions of the latter, said cover being unattached at its front portion to provide an opening adapted to receive the cap, said cap protector including a visor protector secured to the front portion of the hollow body and adapted to underlie the visor of said cap, the unattached portion of the cover being stretchable over the edges of both the visor of the cap and over the visor protector, and a drawstring carried at the edge of the unattached portion of the cover, and said edge being engageable under the visor protector to'close the opening.
