F s- 71s a ireementery t ans rse et e n l e OI i Referring now' more particularly to the charaeters of reference on the drawings, the novel combination baby chair comprises, preferably of metallic structure, a rectangular base frame I of open construction; such base frame I being-fitted adjacentthe rear corners and outside thereof; with transversely spaced rear wheels 2.

The base frame I- is thus adapted to be supported, closely adjacent and for movement along the ground, by the wheels 2 and 3.
The base frame I is adapted to be supported from the ground at a relatively higher elevation by a plurality of; corner legs 4 pivoted at their 111912121 ends, as at 5, to the corners of the base frame I. The corresponding legs 4 at each side of said frame are adapted to swing upwardly and inwardly to folded position; said corresponding legs when foldedbeing; adapted to nest asshown in Fig; 6;- one of said legs being tubular, while the other is substantially semi circular, asshown, in order to accomplish the above nesting.

when the device is in use the supporting links I3 are maintained in an upright position by a releasable latch bar ll of pin and slot type which extends diagonally between, and is pivoted to, the base frame I and one of said links I6 at each side of the chair.
By releasing the latch bars H the folding chair unit I may be lowered from its raised position of use, as in Fig. 1 or 2, to a lowered non-working position, as in Fig. 3.
The folding chair unit I0 includes transversely spaced, forwardly projecting arm rests I8 pivoted at the rear ends to opposite sides of the back I3; each such arm rest I8 being supported from the seat frame II by a pair of pivotally connected, upstanding links I! in spaced relation and alined with respect to corresponding ones of the links IS.
The folding chair unit It! is normally held against folding or collapse by a latch bar 20 of pin and slot type which extends diagonally between, and is pivoted to, the seat frame II and one of the links I9 at each side of the chair unit. Upon release of the latch bars 20 the chair unit III is foldable from its erected position, as in Figs. 1 and 2, forwardly and downwardly with respect to the seat frame II, until the parts lie in nonworking collapsed position, as in Fig. 3.
By upward folding of the legs 4, and downward folding of the links I6 and I9, all of the parts of the device collapse to their respective positions, as shown in Fig. 3, and wherein the device may be transported or stored.
The seat frame I I supports a seat 2 I, formed in the forward portion thereof-with a pair of transversely spaced leg openings 22; said seat 2|, including the leg openings 22, being covered by a cover plate 23 hinged at its rear edge, as at 24, for upward and rearward swinging to an open position lying against the back I3. When the cover plate 23 is in its down position, a baby sits thereon with its legs overhanging the front edge of the seat 2|, whereas when said cover plate 23 is in open position the baby rests on the seat 2| with its legs depending through the openings 22, for walking.
For use as a high chair, the device is adjusted as shown in Fig. 1, with the legs 4 in depending base frame supporting position, and with the chair unit I0 unfolded and supported in spaced relation above the base frame I. This supports the baby at proper height for convenient feeding, which feeding is enhanced by the use of a tray 25 which spans between, and is connected to, the arm rests I8 in the following manner:
As shown in Fig. 7, one end of the tray is hinged to the adjacent arm rest I8, as at 28, for upward and lateral swinging motion, to permit of placement of the baby in, or its removal from, the chair unit.
The hinge 26 is detachable from the adjacent arm rest I8, to permit of removal of the tray 25, by fitting such hinge with a bar 21 which engages in a longitudinal holding channel 28 formed on said adjacent arm rest I8 and open to the front. The bar 21 is slid out of the open front end of the channel 28 when it is desired to detach the tray.
At the end opposite the hinge 26 the tray 25 is detachably, and longitudinally adjustably secured, to the corresponding arm rest I8 by a depending tongue 29 which projects through a slot 30 in the adjacent arm rest I8; there being a spring-pressed pin 3| which engages selectively in one of a row of holes 32 in said tongue. The
pin 3| is mounted on a leaf spring 33, which not only urges the pin I3 toward the tongue 23, but also provides for finger engagement to retract said pin.
When the device is to be used as a walker the legs 4 are folded upwardly to their out-ofthe-way position, and the wheels 2 and 3 rest on the ground.
The cover plate 23 is then swung rearwardly and upwardly to its open position, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, whereby the baby is placed on the seat 2| with its legs depending through the openings 22 for ground engagement, and as is desirable towards teaching the baby to walk.
When the device is used as a stroller the baby is placed in the chair unit I0, either with the cover plate 23 in its lowered position, with the baby's legs overhanging the front edge of the seat 2|, or with said plate in its open position with the baby's legs extending through the openings 22.
To control the device, as a stroller, the following push handle arrangement is provided:
A generally inverted V-shaped swing frame 34 is pivoted between the side flanges I5 adjacent the lower edge of the back I3; such swing frame being fitted, at the apex, with an extensible or telescopic push handle 35.
The swing frame 34 is maintained in a position of use; i. e. at an upward and rearward incline, by an over-dead-center link unit 38 which connects between the back I3 and the swing frame 34 adjacent its apex.
With the above described push handle the device can be conveniently manipulated as a stroller.
When not in use the push handle 35 is retracted; the link unit is broken downwardly; and the swing frame 34 and said handle are folded forwardly into the pocket formed by the edge flanging I5 of the back I3.
For storage the device is collapsed in the manner shown in Fig. 3.
To facilitate manual carrying of the device as so folded, a suit-case type handle 31 is secured to the cross member I2 centrally of the ends of the latter; the device thus being carried in an on-edge position.
The described device provides a very convenient, practical and reliable combination chair for a baby; the chair being easy to manually adjust between its selective positions, and when in use being stable and efiective for the intended purposes.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that there has been produced such a device as substantially fulfills the objects of the invention, as set forth herein.
While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred construction of the device, still in practice such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention, as defined by the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, the following is claimed as new and useful, and upon which Letters Patent are desired:
1. A combination baby chair comprising a base frame having a chair supported thereby, the frame including longitudinal side members, wheels mounted on the frame for ground engagement, and a pair of legs pivoted on each side member at the ends of the latter for movement between a depending position and a folded position alongside the member, one leg of each pair 5 being of substantially circular form in section and the other leg of each pair being substantially semi-circular in section and facing in a direction and of a size to receive said one leg therein When the legs are in said folded position.
2. A structure, as in claim 1, with releasable holding means for the folded legs comprising an element on said other leg adjacent its normally lower end, and a cooperating element on the one leg adjacent its pivoted end.
