This invention relates to infants bibs, and more particularly to an infants bib of the disposable type.

A main object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved disposable infants bib which is simple in construction, which is easy to use, and which is inexpensive to manufacture.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved infants disposable bib which is sturdy in construction, which is easy to place on an infant or child and to secure thereon and which is especially suitable for use in restaurants, dining cars and similar locations.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and claims, and from the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a front elevational View of an improved disposable bib constructed in accordance with the present invention, the neckband of the bib being shown in its normal position;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary front elevational view of the upper portion of the bib of Figure 1, showing the neckband attached to the bib in position for use;

Figure 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional detail view taken on line `.il-."2 of Figure l;

Referring to the drawings, the bib is designated generally at II and comprises a main body I2 of suitable disposable material, such as soft, white four-ply napkin paper or similar absorbent paper. The body I2 is generally oval in shape and is formed at its top end with the concave, arcuate top edge I3 adapted to be engaged around the childs neck when the bib is secured to the child. Designated at I4 is the neckband which comprises an inner lamination of malleable material, designated at I5, such as a strip of metal foil, said strip being covered by a paper sheath I5 completely surrounding the malleable, bendable strip I5. The end of the neckband I 4 is secured to one of the top corners of the body I2 by means of relatively heavy reinforcing tabs I'I, I1 of gummed paper in the manner shown in Figure 4. Secured to the opposite top corner of the body I2 are the abutting, relatively heavy paper reinforcing tabs I9, I9, arranged as shown in Figure 3, said tabs being sections of gummed paper fastened together and formed adjacent their top ends with the registering slots 20, 20 defining an opening to receive the free end of the neckband I4.

In using the bib, the bib is secured to the infants neck in the usual manner, the neckband I4 being engaged around the infants neck and the end portion of the band being engaged through the slots 20 and bent rearwardly, as shown at 2| in Figure 2, to define a fastening hook. Since the neckband is malleable by virtue of the inner foil lamination I5 thereof, the

book portion 2l will retain its shape after it has been bent to the hooked configuration of Figure 2, and the bib will thus be secured on the infant or child without requiring any further fastening means. When the bib is no longer required, it may be readily removed by straightening the free end portion of the neckband I4 and disengaging said neckband from the reinforcements I9, whereby the bib may be removed for disposal.

The body portion I2 of the bib may be decorated in any suitable manner, as by pictures of animals or other objects in suitable attractive colors.

While a specific embodiment of an improved disposable bib has been disclosed in the foregoing description, it will be understood that various modifications within the spirit of the invention may occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, it is intended that no limitations be placed on the invention except as defined by the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A disposable bib comprising a relatively wide main paper body having a concave arcuate top edge and top corner portions, a strap member comprising a strip of thin malleable metal and a non-metallic cover on said strip, a first relatively heavy paper reinforcing tab immovably secured to one top corner portion of said main body, means immovably securing said strap member to said tab, and a second relatively heavy paper tab immovably secured to the other top corner portion, said second tab being formed with a slot adapted to receive the end portion of said strap member and said end portion being bendable to hook-shape to secure the strapl member to the second tab.

A disposable bib comprising a relatively wide, generally oval paper body having a concave arcuate top edgeand top corner portions at opposite ends of said top edge, a strap member comprising a strip of metal foil and a paper` sheath around said strip, a rst relatively heavy paper reinforcing tab immovably secured to one top corner portion, means immovably securing said strap member to said tab, and a second relatively heavy paper tab immovably secured to the other top corner portion, said second tab being formed with a slot adapted to receive the end portion of the strap member and said end portion being bendable to hook-shape to secure the strap member to said second tab.
