2 claims. (01.15-131) My invention relates to floor wavers for spreading self polishing liquid wax. An object of the invention is to provide a floor waxer using self polishing liquid wax for the easy spreading von a oorrby exible absorbent cotton wax spreader cords.
A further object of the invention is to provide a floor waxer that may be quickly and conveniently disassembled for cleaning, or vfor, replacing Worn, or defective parts.
A further obj ect is to provide a floor waxer having a slideway body provided with a detachable liquid wax container provided with a wax flow control valve.
A further object of the invention is to provide a floor waXer having a slideway body provided with a removable cotton cord supporting head.
A further objectief the inventionis to provide a floor waxer provided with an endless cushion member to prevent marringV furniture when coming into contact therewith. v
A further object of the invention is to provide a floor waxer wit-h a detachable handle for operating the waxer.
A further object of the invention is to provide a floor waxer having a slideway body with .opposed polishing elements useable when the cotton wax spreader cords supporting head is detached from the slideway body. l
Other objects and .advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
`In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this application, and in which like characters of reference denote similar parts throughout the severalV views: j
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a floor waxer embodying the features of my invention.
Figf2 is a view of the floor waxer showing the same partly in sectional elevation and partly 1n front elevation. y
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional elevation of the floor WaXer.
Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view of the plate for supporting the wax spreading means. l
Fig. 5 is a, fragmentary view of the flex1ble absorbent wax spreader.
In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration only, is shown a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral I I designates,
generally, a waxer body member which is preferably in the form of a plate having curved, or convexed end edges I2. The front and rear edge portions of the plate I I terminate in downwardly projecting anges I3, each of which terminates 2 at its'lower yedge in an inwardly projectinghorizontally disposed flange Ill to provide a channeled slideway and guideto removably receive awax spreader cord scribed.
The plate II is provided adjacent-each end edge with flexibly resilient upstanding pressupporting head hereinafter devsure earsl I5 havingbeaded portions IEkfor snapping over endanges I'I at the head ends of a liquid wax container I8 adapted to be removably seated on the body member, or plate II. An ear, or stop I9 may, be carried by the plate II to frictionally embrace the front andl black walls i of the container I8 to assist the ears I5 in preventing displacement of the container IB upon the plate II, yetr rendering the container readily removableffrom'l the body member I I for `cleaning, or replacement.
The liquid wax container vI8 may Iloe provided with a suitable filling neck 20 on the topr thereof and may be closed by a suitable closure'cap v12|. The. plate II may also be provided with '.opposedv upstanding ears II to'whichv the .ends of a bail member V22 are hingedly connected. A suitable socket 22 -adaptedto receive adetachable operating handle 23 is secured to thebail .member 22. -.While I have shown the 'socketl as attached to the bail member 2 2, it may be attached Ato the body member IIg'if so desired. The container is. provided with aliquid wax control valve consisting of a tubular valvebody A2li having a wallopening 25. The valve body runs vertically throughthe container I8 and the body is open at` itslower end. The valve body preferably projects beyond the outer wall'of the container instead of stopping `flush therewith.
tubularl valve, ster'rl126 having a wall' opening 2i has a telescopic fand rotary slip ft within the valve body. When the valve is open, the wall openings are in register, and, when the valve is closed, the wall openings are out of register, When the valve is open, the liquid wax flows from the lower open end of the valve stem 26'. I
The oor waxer also embodies a liquid Wax spreader which consists of a, plate like headportion 28 having spaced downturned curved fingers 2B at the front and back edges thereof which are more, or lessexibly resilient and are provided with protuberances 30 on their inner faces Y adjacent the free ends thereof. The plate 28 is adapted to be detachably, frictionally and slidably supported by the fingers 29 vin the'v flanges I3 on the plate II. The spreader head member, or plate 28 isl insertable and removable from forcing means in a stretched position between the fingers 29. Soft absorbent cotton cords 34 are suitably attached, as face fabric body 32.
able length to effectively spread lid'iiiii disa charged from the container I8, as the waxer is moved back and forth over a noor by th handle i 2 3. The plate p2 8 ,may bekeasily reinoved from th liilr'iy' titte il from either orlo thtroofhfttr fhgv liquid was tohttiner has htohrohiovoo.
'iiiio lower fates or 'the horizontally disposed ihwa'riliy projecting iihhges i4 on the plate Ail may be provided with polishing elements 35, sutil, for ijhjs'tgahct, afs f 'eit 'st-ips, iaihpsvvool, or the like. which may he hjrougiitihto use for polisl'iifig 'purposes when tht iiqiiia wax spreader lladfiaving th cotton cords "34 is 'rnvd from tilt-hitters.
'rho skirt flanges "it may have suitably attached thereto an endless rubber cushion meinttr at 'shrroiihrlihgthe tout member to pre- 'vent hiarrin'g furniture should the Waker come ihtgtontatt therewith.
The rna'ny advantages 'of vthe hereind'es'crib'ed 'invention will 'readily suggest themselves 'to those skilled in the art vto which'it ap'lqta'ins.
