This invention relatesito storage boxes, and

more particularly to boxes; for storing clothing or thelikewhich mayjbe collapsed to flatposition when not in use.

The principal objectsio f the present invention are to provide a fstor a'ge box preferably made from relatively stifi cardboard or the like of one piece material .having score lines to form the box when in use; to 'providea' support for hangers of the garments in the ends of -the box; to provide means for holding the garments flat against the bottom of the boxso that they will remain in extended position and thus prevent wrinkling of thegarment; and to provide means forsealing the box so that is maybe used for a period of time asdesired.

In accomplishing these andother objects of the present invention, I havepprovided improved structure, the preferred formof which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Referring more in detail to the drawings:

I designates a storage box embodying the features of my invention made from a single sheet of material 2 such as cardboard, corrugated board or the like, and provided with ends 3 and 4, separated from the main body of the box by transverse fold lines 5 and 6. The main body of the box is provided with longitudinal fold lines I, 8, 9 and I 0. When the sheet of material is folded on said fold lines, the box comprises a. bottom I I, sides I2 and I3, having extensions I4 and I5 forming a cover for the box. The ends 3 and 4 are provided with fold lines I6 and I1 forming end flaps I8 and I9 so that when the box is folded, the end flaps I8 and I9 will engage the ends of the sides I2 and I3, and may be fastened thereto by sealing tape or the like as indicated at 20 (Figs. 1 and 3).

Secured to thebottom II of the box near the respective ends thereof by rivets or the like 2| are hinges 22 and 23 for accommodating rods 24 and 25. Secured near the upper or outer edges of the '3 Claims. (01." 7)

ends 3. and 4 are. keeper members 26 and 21 for receiving a latch portion 23 of a chain 29 secured to the outer end of the rods 24 and as indicated at 30 (Fig. 4) The rodsprovide a support for hangers 3| for the clothing :as indicatedat 32 (Fig. 3).

The outer ends of the rods-are provided with heads 36 forming recesses 31 spaced from the ends of the rod and the heads are'adapt ed to engage in keepers 38 as best illustrated in Fig. 5. The rodsare of a. length substantially equal to .thewidth ofthe box when in jolded position.

My box is particularly adapted to be collapsed and stored in flat condition for use by storage companies until they are desired to b'e delivered to the customers. v

In assembling the box for use, the sheet of material is folded on lines 8 and 9 and the ends are folded on lines 5 and 6 with the'end flaps I8 and I9 extending around the sides I2 and I3 and secured thereto by tape or the like.

The rods 24 and 25 are then extended and the latching head of the chain 29 is engaged with the keepers 26 and 21 respectively, The box is then ready for storage of the garments and they may be placed therein on hangers and the hangers engaged over the'rods as indicated at 39 (Fig. 3). The clothes may be secured in either end, and if they are long enough the tails or skirts of the garments may overlap each other. When the garments are .in place, the rods 34 and 35 are then extended across the garments and the heads 36 engaged in the keepers 38, also as illustrated in Fig. 3.

The box is particularly adaptable for storage of blouses, shirts and the like, and will prevent wrinkling while in storage. The rods '34 and 35 will also tend to form a more rigid box. The keepers 38 are provided With spring members for retaining the heads 36 therein while in use.

When the box is not in use, the hanger supports and rods are disengaged from the keepers and lie flat along the bottom and sides, respectively, of the box. -When the box is filled with clothing, the flap I4 is closed over the top and the, flap I5 placed thereover and sealed with sealing tape or the like, as indicated at M (Fig. 1). The sealing tape may extend over the entire cover member and onto the ends of the box if desired.

It will be obvious from the foregoing that I have provided an'improved collapsible storage 3 7 ing the garments in place to prevent wrinkling thereof while in storage.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters.

1. A box for storing clothing on hangers or the like comprising, a bottom, sides, ends and cover members, rods hingedly connected to said bottom near the ends thereof, keepers on the end members near the outer edges thereof, chains on the free ends of said rods having'latch portions engaging said keepers to form supports for the clothing on the hangers in therespective ends of the box, rods hingedly connected to the sides of the box offset from one anothenkeeper meme bers on the sides of the box opposite said rods, and heads on the end of the rods for engaging in said keepers whereby the rod engages the flaps for folding around the sides of s'aid box,

means for securing said end flaps to said side members, rods hingedly'connected to said bottom near" said transverse fold lines, keepers on the end members near the outer edges thereof, chains on said rods having latch portions engaging said keepers to form supports for the clothing on the hangers in therespective ends of the box, rods hiiigedly connected'to the sides ofthe box offset from one anothenkeeper members on the sides of the box opposite said rods, headson t he free ends of the rods for engaging in said keepers whereby the rods engage the clothing for holding the clothing in fiat condition, and means for sealing the cover members.

3. A box for storing clothing therein on hangers or the like comprising, a sheet of relatively stiff material having spaced longitudinal fold lines and transverse fold lines forming end members whereby said sheet may be folded form ,in'g'a bottom, sides, ends andcover members for said box, said end members having longitudinal fold lines forming end flaps for folding around the sides of said box, means for securing said end flaps to said side members, rods hingedly connected to said bottom near said transverse fold lines, keepers on the end members near the outer edges thereof, chains on the free ends of said rodshaving latch portions engaging said keepers to form supports for the clothing on the hangers in the respective ends of the box, rod means carried by the respective side members and engaging saidclothing for holding same in flat condition in the box, said rods being foldable along said bott'om and the rod means along said side members when the box is in flat condition, and means for sealing the cover members.
