Application November 9, 1945, Serial No. 627,742
1 Claim.
s This invention relates to a calendar framing and indicating device, the primary object of the invention being to provide a frame having openings so constructed and arranged that they fall opposite to the numbers on calendar sheets over which the frame is positioned, indicating the days of the week, the frame at the same time providing means for maintaining the calendar sheets or pages fiat, against curling.
An important object of the invention is to provide indicators which may be positioned over any desired number of the calendar indicating a particular date to be remembered. The indicator may be removable, and may be of a distinguishing color, or of a distinctive shape or design to cause the particular date to stand out over the remaining numbers of the calendar.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts, hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a calendar indicator constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective View of a modified form of indicator.
Figure 3 is a fragmental perspective View of a still further modified form of invention.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view through a portion of the indicator, illustrating the calendar sheets as supported against the indicator frame, and an auxiliary indicator positioned on the main indicator.
Figure 5 is a fragmental perspective view illustrating the front and rear sections of a calendar indicator frame as held together by securing means.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 indicates a frame, which is of a size to fit over the numbers of a calendar indicating the days of the week and the months of the year. The frame 5 is formed with a plurality of rectangular openings 6 that are so located that they will rest over the numbers indicating the days of the month, in such a way as to frame the numbers.
The edges of the rectangular openings 6 are slightly recessed as at 1 for the reception of indicators such as indicated at 8, the indicators 8 being held within the recessed portions in such a way that the outer surfaces thereof lie flush with the outer surface of the main frame 5. These auxiliary indicators are of distinguishing colors so that certain numbers representing the days of the month, stand out and are clearly visible above the remaining numbers of the calendar page or sheet. The frame 5 is also provided with openings 9 and I0 through which the printed matter on the calendar over which the indicator is positioned, representing the months of the year, will be displayed.
A tab indicated at H is secured to the upper portion of the frame, the tab being formed with, an opening to receive a pin, or similar securingdevice whereby the frame may be held in posi tion over a calendar sheet.
In the form of the invention as shown by Figure 2, the frame 5 which is somewhat similar to the frame 5, is formed with elongated openings 6' which are arranged in vertical spaced relation. with respect to each other, the elongated open-- ings being so arranged that they will fall opposite: to the numbers indicating the days of the month. of a calendar. The auxiliary indicators 8' fit. into recesses 9' formed along the side edges of the elongated openings 6', where they are held in position by frictional contact with the walls; of the recessed portions. I As shown by Figure 3 of the drawing, the reference character [5 designates the main frame which is formed with a plurality of rectangular openings [6, which openings are arranged to fall opposite to the numbers of a calendar so that they will be framed by the openings. In this form of the invention, the rectangular openings have their walls recessed for the reception of the indicator [1 which is also of a distinctive color to cause it to be visible over the remaining numbers framed to direct the observers particular attention to that particular date.
I-Iingedly connected to the main frame I5 is the closure frame [8 which is also formed with a plurality of rectangular openings adapted to register with the rectangular openings I6 of the main frame. This closure indicator is so constructed that when it is moved into contact with the front side of the main frame [5, the closure frame will contact with the auxiliary indicators which may be positioned on the main frame, securing the auxiliary indicators in position against displacement.
In order that the closure indicator will be held into close engagement with the main frame, pivoted clips 19 are provided on the main frame and are adapted to swing to positions over the closure indicator, as shown by Figure 5 of the drawing.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided an indicator which may be used in conjunction with the pages or sheets of a calendar to frame the individual dates appearing on the calendar and to further indicate particular dates so that they will beconspicuousover theremaining dates of the calendar.
What is claimed is:
The combination with a calendar having exposed numbers, of a calendar numbers framing device comprising a frame embodyingouter and inner pivotally connected sections having-aegistering openings, positioned over the calendarthe openings registering with the nunibrsmn the calendar, portions of the outer edges of the-openings of the inner section being cut away providing recesses, indicator frames of distinctive colors, fitted within recessesof-theinnerisection, framingparticular'numbers and indicating particular 4 dates of the week to be remembered, said outer section being movable into engagement with the inner section holding the indicator frames within their openings, and said indciator frames being of Widths whereby portions thereof extend beyond the edges of the openings of the outer section and are visible through said openings of the outer section.
