My invention relates to case construction for bread toasters and has for an object to provide a construction wherebyl the case of the toaster may be constructed in two sections and the sections secured together without visible attaching means.
Another object of the invention resides in pro- Viding a construction whereby the frame of the toaster is used for securing the case sections together.
A still further object of the invention resides in providing a case construction utilizing an upper case section having a bread receiving opening therein and in providing attaching means for securing the sections together and accessible through said opening.
A feature of the invention resides in constructing the upper case sections with ears at the ends of said opening and adapted to oVerlie portions of the frame of the toaster and to further provide fasteners engaging said ears and s-aid frame.
Other objects of the invention reside in the novel combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter illustrated and/ or described.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of a case for bread toasters illustrating an embodiment of my invention.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the structure shown in Fig. l, partly in section, and taken on line 2 2 of Fig. l.
Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken on line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
My improved case construction for bread toasters comprises a case indicated in its entirety by reference I0. This case consists of an upper case section I I and a lower case section I2 connected together along a horizontal line located intermediate the upper and lower portions of the case.
The lower case section I2 has a body portion I3 which extends circumferentially of the case and which has ends I4 and sides I5. The lower marginal portion of section I2 extends inwardly as indicated at I5 and is provided with an upstanding part 2i disposed substantially parallel with the body of the case. Issuing inwardly from this part of case section I2 is a ange I6 disposed entirely upon the interior of the case and extending circumferentially about the same.
Mounted on the iiange I6 is a frame I'I which includes two end plates I3 and I9 and a top 20 connecting the same together as best shown in Fig. 2. This frame supports the bread ovens and heaters and other mechanism of the toaster.
5 Claims. (Cl. 99-401) Those parts, however, forming no particular feature Iof the instant invention have not been illustrated in the drawings. These end plates and the manner of supporting the same being identical, only vthe end plate I8 willbe described in detail. The end plate I8 has a iiange `2| extending outwardly from the lowermost portion of the same and which extends across the opposite portions of the flange I6 of case section I2 as illustrated in Fig. 3. The ange l2I is formed with bosses 22 which are threaded to receive screws 23. These screws extend through the iiange r6 and are disposed beneath said iiange where the same are readily accessible for the purpose of attaching the frame to the lower case section I2. The upstanding part 24 serves to offset the fiange I6 above the lowerrnost portion of the case in order to conceal the screws 23. The end plates I8 and I9 extend upwardly beyond thelower case section I2 and into the upper case section III.
The upper case section II is dome-shaped in form having a top 25, end walls 26 and side walls 27. These walls are continuous and have a lower marginal portion 28. The upper part of the lower section I2 is constructed with a lip 29 which is offset to form a recess 3| in which the marginal portion 28 of case section II is adapted to .be received. When the upper case section I I is as-v sembled on the lower case section I2, only a single line of joinder 32 appears between the two case sections. The upper case section I I is provided with two openings 33 through which thebread may be introduced into the bread ovens ofthe toaster. The openings 33 are bounded by iianges 34 which extend along the sides of the said openings. At theends of the openings 33 are for-med ears 35 which are situated opposite one anotherl and which incline downwardly of the ends of said openings. These ears overlie inclined portions 36 on the end plates IB and I9 of the frame I'I. The said portions are formed with bosses 3l which are threaded to receive screws 38. The screws 38 extend through the ears 35 and are yacl, cessible from the bread openings 33. It will thus be seen that the two sections of the case are held together by the frame I'I and that no visible means. .of attachment appears upon the .exterior of the case.
Plastic ornaments may be attached to the ends 'of the lower case section I2 by means of screws 4I tapped into said ornaments and extending through the ends I Il of said section. Likewise feet i2 may be attached to the portion I5 of the lower case section I2 for supporting the bread 3 toaster above the level of the table on which the case rests.
The method of using the invention is obvious. The v-arious parts of the toaster mechanism including the toast oven and timing mechanism are first mounted on the frame Il in the customary manneril -The said frame is thenattached tothe lower case section I2 by means of the screws 23. The upper section Il is next applied by directing the marginal portion 28 into the recess 3|.' The section Il is then attached to said frame by means of the screws 38.
The advantages of the invention are manifest. The construction is extremely simple making it possible to construct the case of two stamped pieces. Attachment of the parts of the case together is accomplished through the frame for the toaster mechanism `and the securing of the upper case section is procured by fastening means accessible through the bread openings in the case. The screws so used are below the upper surface of the toaster case and are hence quite inconspicuous. My improved toaster case can be constructed at an extremely economical cost.
Changes in the speciiic form of kmy invention, as herein described, may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit. of my invention.
lHaving described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. In a case construction for bread toasters, a lower case section, supporting means extending inwardly from the lower portion thereof, a frame attached to said supporting means and extending upwardly above the same, an upper case section superimposing said lower case section and having a bread receiving opening therein, oppositely disposed ears on said upper case section overlying portions of said frame and disposed at said bread receiving opening, and fasteners engaging said ears and said frame and urging said upper case section toward said lower case section to hold said case sections in cooperative relationship, said fasteners being accessible through said bread receiving opening, said ears and fasteners being disposed wholly within the connes of said case section.
2. In a case construction for bread toasters, a lower case section, supporting means extending inwardly from the lower portion thereof, a frame attached to said supporting means and extending upwardly above the same, an upper case section superimposing said lower case section and having a bread receiving opening therein, oppositely disposed ears on said upper case section overlying portions of said frame and disposed at said bread receiving opening, screws extending through said ears and engaging said frame and urging said upper case section toward said lower case section to hold said case sections in cooperative relationship, said screws being accessible through said bread receiving opening, said ears and screws being disposed wholly within the confines of said case section.
3.In a case construction for bread toasters, a lower case section, supporting means extending inwardly from the lower portion thereof, a frame attached to said supporting means and extendtion superimposing said lower case section and having an elongated bread receiving opening therein, oppositely disposed ears on the upper case section and disposed at the ends of said opening, said ears overlying portions of said frame and vfasteners extending through said ears and engaging said frame and urging said upper case section toward said lower case section to hold said case sections in cooperative relationship, said fasteners being accessible through said bread receiving opening, said ears and fasteners being disposed wholly within the confines of said case section.
4. In a case construction for bread toasters, a lower case section, supporting means extending inwardly from the lower portion thereof, a frame attached to said supporting means and extending upwardly above the same, an upper case section superimposing said lower case section and having an elongated bread receiving opening therein, oppositely disposed eais on the said upper case section and located at the ends of said bread receiving opening, said ears extending angularly downward from the uppermost portion of the case and overlying portions of said frame and fasteners engaging said ears and frame and urging said upper case section toward said lower case section to hold said case sections in cooperative relationship, said fasteners being accessible through said bread receiving opening, said ears and fasteners being disposed wholly within the confines of said case section.
5. In a case construction for bread toasters, a lower case section, supporting means extending inwardly from the lower portion thereof, a frame attached to said supporting means and extending upwardly above the same, an upper case section superimposing said lower case section and having an elongated bread receiving opening therein, oppositely disposed ears on the said upper case section and located at the ends of said bread receiving opening, said ears extending angularly downward from the uppermost portion of the' case and overlying portions of said frame and screws extending through said ears and screwed into said frame and urging said upper case section toward said lower case section to hold said case sections in cooperative relationship, said screws being accessible through said bread re-I ceiving opening said ears and screws being disposed wholly within the confines of said case section. l
