This invention relates generally to women's apparel and refers more particularly to improvements in breast covers.

One of the objects of this invention is to provide a breast cover which is entirely independent of either outer or under garments and are securely held in place without the use of ribbons, straps or similar supporting means.

Another object of this invention is to provide breast covers in the form of individual cupshaped pockets of suiiicient size to completely conceal the breasts without the assistance of any other garment or apparel and being free from connection with one another.

Still another feature of this invention is to provide each cup-shaped pocket with an annular flange at the periphery adapted to overlie the portion of the body of the wearer laterally beyond the breasts and havin an adhesive coating on the inner surface enabling the flanges to be readily attached to the body. Thus, no part of the adhesive contacts the breasts proper and this is advantageous as the breasts are more tender than the surrounding portions of the body and have a tendency to bruise more easily.

A further feature of this invention is to provide a breast cover of the general type noted above fabricated from an inexpensive material and capable of being dispensed with after serving its purpose.

The foregoing as well as other objects will be made more apparent as this description proceeds especially when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a diagrammatic front elevational view showing breast covers forming the subject matter of this invention;

Figure 2 is a sectional view of one breast cover shown in Figure l; and

Figure 3 is an exaggerated sectional view of a part of one breast cover.

The breast covering forming the subject matter of this invention comprises individual cup-shaped pockets l which may be made in different sizes in order to completely receive and conceal the entire breast. The pockets may be formed of any suitable material but are preferably formed of a material which is sufliciently inexpensive to enable discarding the pockets after they have served their purpose. The material selected may also be highly flexible or may possess sufificient rigidity to maintain a substantially cup-shaped contour when not in use.

Regardless of the material selected to form the cup-shaped pockets l0, each pocket is formed with an annular flange II which projects outwardly from the periphery of the pocket and has an adhesive l2 applied to the inner face thereof. The adhesive coated portion of the flanges overlie the portion of the body of the wearer spaced laterally outwardly from the breasts and provides a means for securely holding the cup-shaped pockets in place. The arrangement is such that the adhesive [2 is free from contact with the breasts proper and this is very important as it eliminates any possibility of bruising or injuring the breasts. The adhesive employed is preferably similar to the adhesive commonly used on surgical tapes and adheres quickly as well as securely to the skin. A ring [3 of suitable material is applied to the adhesive coated surface of the flange II for protecting or covering the adhesive l2 prior to use of the cup-shaped pockets.

As stated above the cup-shaped pockets are made available in different sizes in order to accommodate large, small and medium sized breasts. When the proper size of cup-shaped pockets are selected the adhesive coated faces of the attaching flanges ll register with the skin of the body surroundin the breasts proper and are securely held in place by gently pressing the flanges l l against the body. Thus, no part of the cup-shaped pockets are attached to the breasts proper and any danger or bruising or injuring the breasts during application or removal of the pockets is eliminated. The material from which the individual pockets are formed may be so inexpensive that a number of pockets may be sold in package form at a cost so reasonable that the pockets may be discarded after use. In any case, the cup-shaped pockets completely cover the breasts and also serve to support the breasts to some extent.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. A breast covering comprisin a cupped breast receiving pocket completely to receive the breast and having a flexible peripheral flange portion of a size to overlie an area of the body of a wearer, said area being spaced laterally beyond the breast, said flange extending outwardly and continuously around the cupped pocket and being sufficiently pliable readily to conform to that portion of the body which it overlies, and a coating of pressure sensitive adhesive on the inner surface only of said flange.
