7 Application December 8, 1949, Serial No. 131,844
3 Claims. i
This invention relates to a combined tooth brush holder and tooth paste tube dispenser.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a tooth brush holder having a tooth paste dispenser built into the same in such a manner that upon a turn of a knob tooth paste will be dispensed from the lower end of the tube and upon a brush held thereunder.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a combined tooth paste dispenser and brush holder which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, has a minimum number of parts, compact, easy to operate, of pleasing appearance and efficient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the combined tooth brush holder and tooth paste dispenser embodying the features of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the turning knob and the slit tube used for supporting the tooth paste container.
Fig. 2a is a perspective view of the combined holder and dispenser illustrating the manner in which the tooth paste container is inserted upon the slit tube.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. l.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on line 44 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary perspective View illustrating the manner in which the rolled tooth paste tube is removed from the tooth brush colder and looking upon the opposite end of the :ombined holder and tooth paste dispenser, from ;he end viewed in Figs. 1 and 2a.
Referring now to the figures, If! represents a Jack plate portion having a forwardly extending aortion with openings l2 therein for receiving L tooth brush l3. The back wall portion has key iole openings [4 for the securement of the same mom a wall surface. At one end of the forwardly extending portion I is a depending skirt portion 5 open at the bottom and adapted to support a th paste tube l6.
At one end of the depending skirt portion l is b large opening I! and at the opposite end is a mall opening l8. A split tube 2| extends hrough these openings and an enlargement 22 lpon the tube is journalled in the large opening 1 while a flared end of the tube 2| is journalled in the small opening l8. This tube has a slit 23 for receiving the bottom end 24 of the tooth paste container or tube H5. The bottom end is slid through a slot 25 in the depending portion so that it is disposed within the depending portion. It will be noted that the enlarged sealed bottom end of the tube I6 is completely enclosed by the tube 2|, it being inserted as shown in Fig. 2a thru the end slots 25 and 23, and moved horizontally within the depending portion. Due to the fact that the sealed bottom end 24 is of greater thickness than the slot 23, said sealed bottom end becomes anchored therein. Once the winding action of the knot 3| is begun, in order to eject the contents of the tube l-B, then slit 23 no longer remains in alignment with slot 25 of the depending portion and tube I6 is automatically locked within the depending portion.
A knob 3| is secured to' the enlarged portion 22 of the tube and can be used for turning the tube. The container 5 will be rolled upon the tube in the manner shown in Figs. 5 and 6. When the contents of the container l6 have been completely discharged, the rolled container Hi can be drawn through the large opening I! in the manner shown in Fig. 6. The rollers are so placed in relation to opening I! that no abutment prevents the easy passage of the empty tube l6 that is wound about tube 2|. The flared end of the tube 2| can be compressed sufficiently so as to permit the passage of the tube 2| through the small opening l8. The container 6 is accordingly inserted through one end of the depending portion l5 and removed from the other.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of our invention, what is claimed is:
1. A tooth paste dispenser comprising a wall portion, a depending portion connected to the wall portion, a large opening at one end of the depending portion, asmall opening at the opposite end of the depending portion, said ends of 3 the depending portion having slits leading to the openings, a slit tube having a portion adapted to fit the large opening and the end of the tube adapted to fit the small opening, said slit tube and the slits in the depending portion adapted to receive a tooth paste tube, knob means on the tube for turning the same, press rolls for squeezing the tube as it is wound on the slit tube, said tube after having the tooth paste tube wound upon the same being removable through the large opening in the depending portion.
2. A tooth paste dispenser comprising a wall portion, a depending portion connected to the wall portion, a large opening at one end of the depending portion, a small opening at the opposite end of the depending portion, said ends of.
the depending portion having slits leading to the openings, a slit tube having a portion adapted to fit the large opening and the end of the tube adapted to fit the small opening, said slit tube slit tube against inadvertent outward displace ment from the opening containing the tube.
3. A tooth paste dispenser as defined in claim 1, and a laterally extending portion extending over the depending portion and having openings therein for receiving the handles of tooth brushes whereby to support the tooth brushes thereupon.
