It is an object of this invention to provide a new and improved vehiclethat will avoid one or more of the disadvantages and limitations ofthe prior art. i
Another object of the present invention is to provide anew and improved vehicle that can be adjustable to the convenience of theus'er.
A further object of the invention is to provide a new and: improved vehicle for children that can be easily and interestingly oper fed by the user, andi lat the same time be safe in", operation, simple inistructure and have an attractive appearancaf Other objects will become apparent as the invention is more fully set forth.
For a better understanding of the invention and the objects thereof, reference is made to the attached drawings, which indicate a particular form of the invention by way of example. These drawings in conjunction with the following description outline the structure in detail, explainits operation andmake its principles evident, while the claim added thereto emphasize the scope of the invention.

In th particular construction shown in the drawin ,a roller toy consists of "f ont steering wheel I9 for guidin the vehicle. it is mounted on a fork: leading to a straight fshank l2 and spread handle bars l3. These handle bars have a conventional form and include the usual items for adjusting the handles in the shank I2, and the fork supports the wheel bearings. A collar M of cylindrical form engages the shank l2 and is arranged to revolve horizontally it. A fitting 40 extends rearwardly into a tubular frame |5 that bifurcates at 4| at th rear in a slantingly depending manner to form journalled termini 6 for supporting a rear axle IT. The rear axle ll supports two wheels l8 and is bent at its middle portion to the contour of a crank member l9.

This connecting rod 2|] is formed with an end eyelet 2| journalled in a bearing 22 attached to the underside and rear of an elongated seat board 23. A bracket 24 also rigidly attached to the underside of the seat board 23 is journalled in a bearing 29 on the frame l5 so the board seat ma operate pivotally thereon about a vertical axis. This bracket 24 is preferably located adjacent the middle of the seat.
When the connecting rod 20 is brought forward so as to be attached to the yoke 21 under the frame l5, it acts as a rigid strut to prevent the seat from rocking up and down, and thereby keeps it stationary. However, by loosening the member 30 the yoke 21 may be swung backwards and mounted on the axle crank I9 so th member 30 is connected loosely to it, and the connecting rod 2|) can be actuated by the seat becoming operable in a rocking movement. As the user moves the vehicle forward by pushing away from the ground with his legs'lthe connecting rod 20 is oscillated by the rear wheels l8 which propel the vehicle along the roadway. The user therefore has two ways in which to use this device, according to how he feels in'the matter. The swinging position of the connecting rod 20 enables this to be done, and the effort required to arrange it is very small and can be easily performed. When the seat is in the stationary or rocking position, the user can ordinarily employ the efforts of his legs and feet to the ground to propel the vehicle.
While but one general form of the invention is shown in the drawings and described in the specifications, it is not desired to limit this application for patent to this particular form, a it is appreciated that other forms of construction could be made that would use the same principles and come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
A vehicle comprising a tubular frame having a horizontal front portion, a straight shank rotatively supported in the forward end of said frame, said shankhaving handle bars-at its upper end and a forkat its lower end, a steering wheel mounted in said fork, said frame terminating in a bifurcated end extending downwardly from the aforesaid front portion, a crankshaft mounted in said bifurcated end, a pair of traction-wheels secured to each end of saidshaft, aseat abearfront portion and bifurcated end of the frame, a
