Thisl invention relatesA tomagazinesA and'v -dispensers for bobby pins, hairpins and the like, willich are capable of being refilled or loaded with groups or packs of such pins, and refers particularly toa bobby pin dis-penser.

' The main object of the-'present inventionis tov provide a bobby pin dispenser for dispensing the pins individually therefrom in convenient` manner, and thereby avoidingconfusion andloss of time when arranging the hair.

v Another object is to provide loading or relling means for loading adispenser as mentioned with a new supply ofbobby pins in a single ll-V ing operation.

A further object is to provide aform of dispenser which may be, conveniently loaded by inserting a refill package of bobby pinsas obtainable on the market, so thatv the dispenser when closed upon the insertedl pack is instantly readyv for dispensingv pins therefrom.

Other objects and advantages of the inventionV willappear in further detail as the specication proceeds.'

When arranging the hair, women universally insert bobby pins, if such are used', but al1 too frequently thel pins are mixed with other typesv of' pins, or jumbled' together in 'a tray, or even; lie in a heap, which conditions obviously inter-` fere With thefhair-dressing operation, due to the frequent stoppages necessary for extracting sin. ple pins from the tray-or heap.`

Upon consideringv this problem, it has occurred` to me that an effective dispenser for bobby pins should be available which makes it convenient and simple to dispense bobby pins therefrom, one by one, as needed. As a result, I have succeeded'V inproducing a bobbypin dispenser which is not only capable of dispensing single bobby pins` therefrom inconvenient manner, but is also convenient to refill With the new sup-ply of such pins when required, as will now be more fully described'. i v

Hence, in the practice of my invention, andreferring again to the drawings, a bobby dispenser, generally indicated at t8, primarily includes a container or magazine I9- having a front wall 20, end walls 2 I- and 22l and a bottom 23, which atA the left end terminates a predetermined distance from the end wall; 2l to provide av bottom delivery opening` 242 aswill; b e, more clearly defined hereinafter. As best seen in Figure 6, in which a portion of the bottom 23 is broken out to disclose internal detail,; it may be noted that the back wall 34 has a wide recessed portion 35 extending from end wall 2| to an undercut slot or edge portion 35 at which point the rear wall 34 thickens and continues to the internally rounded end wall 22, as indicated at 31, the internally-rounded portion 3l serving to accommodate thev rounded head portions or bights of the bobby pins to be carried by the device. the cover 33 are removed, a special pack unit or magazine, generally indicated at 38, and shown alone in Figures 14 and l5, may be inserted by sliding the same verticallydownwardly betweenY front and rear walls 2B and 34 in suchfashion that the rear rim or wall 39 will be seated against the recessed portion 35 of rear wall 34 between end wall 2l and the .undercut edge 35 with 'a projecting endl. or edge `4B ,thereof ,extending beneath the undercut edge 35. The purpose of the pack frame or member 38 is to retain a stack of bobby, pins 4? between the proiecting retaining edgeor ridge 43011 the rear wall thereof and the front wall 42 in such fashlion that straight legs 48 of the pins', as indicated in Figure 15, will extend into the space 45 between the front wall 42 and the substantially parallel side of wedge-shaped member 44, while the inclined undulated legs B will engage against the inclined surface 5! of member 44 within rear wall'39-of magazine or pack member 33. The mentioned slide member 55 "has a seat or recess 58 for receiving the head end 59 of the lowermo'st pin in the stack 4l, the recess 58 having a rearwardly-arcuate form, as indicated at 6E, to conform generally with a rounded head end or bight of the pin to be seated therein for dispensing from the device. In the lower portion of end wall 22 is an opening 6l through which the lower end S2 of a pendently attached spring 63 extends inwardly and abuts the end of slide or pusher member 55, the spring .being attached at the upper outerside'thereof by means of a pair of screws or rivets 54 to end wall 22 and seated in a recess or channel 55 in the mentioned end wall; The arrangement lis such that normally the inner portion 56 of the lower end 52 of spring 63 resiliently retains the pusher 55 in such position that the upper surface 58 thereof is dispose dbeneath the stack 4l of the bobby pins to support the latter in stored condition within the far'enough to the right beneath the lower end yof end wall 22 to allow the pusher to be shifted manually a short distance tothe right of its normal idle position, as indicated in Figure 5.l In thisgure it is evident thatgthe pusher 55 may be moved suiiiciently to cause spring 53 to extend at the Vlower end 52 thereof outwardly from the groove or channel 55, while the pusher Vthen occupies a position in which the recess 5 3 registers with the rounded end or bright 59 of the lowermost pin 5l s o that the entire stack will tend to drop into a lower position a distance equivalent to the width of one pin. In the mentioned position ofthe lowest rfpin 5l, the latter is clear of the'lower end of the package frame 33, except for thedownward extension 45 of spreader 44 which still remains in the path of the open end 48 and 553 thereof to a predetermined extent alongthe straight and inclined sides of spreader A44m opening 24 of the dispenser so that the pin will be manually accessible for withdrawal in a downwardly-inclined direction irom'the dispenser.I .j
