To these and other ends, the invention consists in the Construction and arrangement of parts that will appear clearly from the following description, when read in conjunotion with the aocompanying drawings, the novel features being pointed out in the claim following the specification.

The U-shaped members i and 2 are provided with metal hinge plates 5 sutably attached thereto and adapted to support the dressing table in hinged relatio n on a collapsible bath stand, not shown, as usual in the art of baby bath stands.

Supported by and within the tubular metal frame is the fabric or canvas element that is provided with heme or tubular portions 'l along its opposite sides to receive the legs of the tubular supporting rame, while %i desgnate adjustable straps or fastening devices fastened to the ends of the fabric element and arranged to extend fabric element 6, which is pushed back on to the legs of the member I until the terminal portions 3 are exposed to permit inserting the latter into the legs of the frame member 2, with the ends of its legs'surrounding the terminal portions 3 and gripped by the tapered portion l, as shown in Fig. 4. The fabric element is then pushed back over the short legs of the metal frame member 2 to the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The straps 8 are then extended around the ends of the metal frame member l and drawn tightly by the buckles 9 to stretch and fasten the fabric element on the frame as shown.

The straps 8 can be tightened to hold the fabric element securely against sagging on the supporting frame while acting at the same time to hold the two U-shaped members of the supporting frame in tight relation, and as the fabric element becomes wet and shrnks, it eXerts even a greater pull on the straps 8 and holds the tele- 'scoping members of the supporting frame in rigid relationship through the wedging action of the tapered portions 4 of the elongated legs of member I which engage the inner edges of the ends of the short legs of the member 2.

If desirable at any time, the straps 8 can be tightened further to stretch the fabric element to a greater extent, and if it becomes necessary to renew the abric element, by releasing the several straps 8 the two frame members l and 2 can be forcibly separated and. the fabric element removed.

Thus there is provided a structure that enables the use of a tubular cylindrical metal frame with rounded cornersin which the abricelement can be attached readily and the entire assembly can be manufactured and put together at a minimum cost, while affording'a table that is pleasing to the eye, extremely rigid, efiicient, strong, durable, and one that does not sag and is peculiarly adaptable to a collapsible bath stand in which the leg frames are also formed of cylindrical metal tubular stock.

While the invention has been described with reference to the particular Construction shown herein, it is not confined to the details illustrated, and this application is intended to cover such additional modifications or changes as may come within the purposes of the improvement or the scope of the following claim:

Iclaim:

A dressing table for an infant's bath stand consisting of a supporting frame composecl of two U-shaped members each of which has rounded corners and is in the form of a one-piece cylindrical metal tube, one of said U-shaped members having elongated legs extending nearly the length of the frame and the other of said U-shaped members having short legs which terminate in proximity to one end of the frame, a one-piece fabric element extending across the rame between said legs and having hems at its front and rear edges through which said elongated and short legs are threaded, the legs of one of said U-shaped members having cylindrical terminal guiding portions of reduced diameter which telescope within the legs of the other U-shaped member and tapering portions adjacent said terminal portions which tightly engage the edges surrounding the openings in the legs of said other U-shaped member, said fabric element extending over the telescoping joints between the legs of the U-shaped members to points in close proximity to the ends of the frame, said U-shaped members being of uniform diameter throughout except at said terminal and tapered portions, and adjustable fastening devices at the ends of the fabric element connected to the ends of the rame and Operating to draw said U-shaped members of the frame toward each other to hold them in tight engagement with one another and to hold the fabric element stretched tightly on the rame.
