A. H. JAREOKI.
PIPE UUTTING ATTACHMENT FOR SCREW CUTTING DIE STOCKS. No. 252,671.
Patented Jan. 24,1882.
DNITED STATES a a w ALBERT H. JAREOKIf OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
PIPE-CUTTING ATTACHMENT FOR SCREW-CUTTlNG-DIE STOCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 252,671, dated January 24, 1882.
Application filed April 8, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT H. JARECKI, of Erie, Erie county, Pennsylvania, a citizen of the United States, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Cutting Attachments for Screw-Cutting-DieStocks5 and I, do hcrebydeclare that the-following is a fu l, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters or figures of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to pipe-cutting attachments for screw-thread cutters; and it consists in an improved construction and arrangement of the same upon the die-holder or stock.
My device may be applied to stocks having adjustable dies or those having fixed dies.
I am aware that pipe-cutting attachments have heretofore been used upon such stocks, and therefore do not claim such application or attachment as new, my invention consisting wholly of the construction of parts and the manner of applying the same.
My device is shown in the acccmp'anying drawings, as follows:
Figure l is a vertical section of a stock or dierholder in a position to show mydevicc. Fig. 2 is a plan view from below of ,a stock, and shows my device in elevation.
The letters of reference indicate parts as follows: r
A is the body of the stock; B, the arms or handles; A, the neck ,or slee\ e which extends down from the body; 0, the bush or thimble which acts as a guide upon the pipe below the dies.
D is the pipe-cutting die, of which 01 is the cutting-point.
E is a swiveled nut for actuating the die D.
F is an enlargement or lug on the side of the neck A, through which the cutting-die passes.
G is a lug on the side of the body A and provided with a cavity for socketin g the swivelscrew E.
The neck A has an opening, a, on the side opposite the lug F, and, as before stated, there is an opening through the lug F. The die D is put in place by passingit through the opening a, screw end first, and entering the opening in the lug F, and thence into the nut E, which is swiveled in the socket in the lug G. By operating the nut E the die can be drawn back within the opening in the lugFfar enough to admit the hushing-thimble O, which has an opening, 0, on one side thereof, sufficient to admit the die D. When the thimble O is in place the nut E is operated and the die moved into the opening 0 in the thimble 0, thus holding it in place. The thimble O is usually held in place by a set-screw; but this may be dispensed with where my device is used, as the die D serves that office. \Vhen the die D is wanted for use it is thrown against the pipe by oper ating the nut E.
W'hat I claim as new isl. A die-stock body having on one side of its neck lugs F and G, with openings and sockets, as described, and an opening, a, on the opposite side of the neck, in combination with the die D and nut E, substantially as shown.
2. The combination, with a die-stock body having an opening, a, on one side of its neck and lugs F and G ontthe opposite side of said neck, in which lugs are openings and socket,
as shown, ofa thimble, G, with openings c'on oneside thereof.
3. Adie-stock body having lugs or enlargements upon its lower face, in which are'openings or recesses for holding a pipe-cutting die and its operating-nut, into which the said die enters by passing through an opening or passage across the neck or central opening of said stock.
In testimony that Iclaim the foregoinglhave hereunto set my hand this 4th day of April,
ALBERT H. JAREOKI.
