4 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in slide loops to efiectively and rapidly secure together portions of garments.
The invention is directed to a slide loop of novel structural features which renders the same highly practical and efficient in operation, and is directed to further objects and advantages which will appear as the description progresses.
The foregoing and other advantageous objects, which will appear from the drawings and from the description hereinafter, are accomplished by the structure of my invention, of which an embodiment is illustrated in the drawings. It will be apparent, from a consideration of said drawings, and the following description, that the invention may be embodied in other forms suggested thereby; such other forms as come within the scope of the appended claims are to be considered within the scope and purview of the instant invention.

Fig. 5 is an elevational view of said slide loop, showing the shank of a button in cross-section in the position the same occupies while being inserted into the throat portion of the loop, and
Fig. 6 is a similar view, showing the shank positioned in said throat portion.
In Fig. 1, the preferred. form of slide loop II] of my invention is shown. The same may be varied within the purview and scope of the appended claims, and comprises a flexible wire member bent to define an elongated portion II having a lower strap receiving slot II' and an open frame section 52 connected thereto and adapted to freely receive the shank 25 of the button 24'. of the second strap 23 to be secured to the strap 22. The slide loop Ill of my invention is adapted to be used for uniting straps or other parts of garments and for like purposes. The open frame it. is of substantially greater Width intermediate its length, i3, than at the upper end thereof, so that the shank 25 of the button 24 will be freely received in, and checked at the upper end of, the frame I2, said upper end being narrowed to define a constricted opening I5 through which the shank may be moved-frictionally (see Fig. 5). The slide loop is provided with arm portions I8, I8 defining an elongated upper portion having an upper strap receiving slot 2!! opening into the throat or button shank channel I! defined by the short rod portions or channel wall members I6, I6 connecting the top of frame I2 and the elongated upper portion of slide loop I I]. The rod portions I6, It are disposed upwardly and outwardly of the top of frame l2 and define therebetween the downwardly tapered throat portion I'I urging the shank 25 upwardly, said throat portion opening into the constricted opening. The arm portions I8, I8 have free, out-turned ends I9, IS in the form shown in the drawings; said free ends are received in a link 2I which encircles the: same and loosely connects the same. By this arrangement, the throat rods I6, I6 may be limitedly moved apart to facilitate the insertion of the shank 25 of the button 24 into the throat portion ll of the loop (see Fig. 5), enlarging the throat portion I1, and will thereafter (see Fig. 6) resume their more limited position shown in Fig. 6, urging the shank 25 of the button 24 upwardly in the throat portion I I of the loop.
If force is applied to the straps 22 and 23 urging them apart after their being connected by the slide loop II] as indicated in Fig. 6 and above described, the button 24 will tilt and bear against the material of the strap 22 which is looped over the upper end of the slide loop (see Fig. 4). This takes u the stress, effectively prevents displacement of the parts, and avoids passing stresses and strains directly to the loop proper.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A separable fastener comprising a button and a slide loop, said button including a head and a shank, and said slide loop including upper and lower loop portions each provided with a strapreceving loop, and an intermediate open frame portion interconnecting said upper and lower loop portions, said frame portion being provided with means defining a button-receiving loop and a button shank channel, said button shank channel communicating at its lower end through a restricted passage with said button-receiving loop and at its upper end communicating through an unrestricted passage with said upper strap-receiving loop, said means including resilient channel wall members extending upwardly and outwardly from said restricted passage towards said unrestricted passage, said restricted passage havof the button shank so that the shank of the button, after being entered in said button-receiving loop, may be forced through said restricted passage into said button shank channel, due to the resiliency of said channel wall members, said channel wall members engaging the button shank when moved beyond said restricted passage and urging it upwardly towards said upper strap-receiving loop, the button head being dimensioned to engage and frictionally bind a strap passed through said upper strap-receiving loop, against an underlying portion of said upper loopportion to inhibit slipping of the loop on said strap.
2. The structure defined in claim 1 wherein said slide loop is made of a strand of resilient wire bent to form and integrally connecting said upper and lower strap-receiving loop portions and said intermediate open frame portion.
3. The structure defined in claim 1 wherein said slide loop is made of a strand of resilient wire bent to form and integrally connecting said upper and lower strap-receiving loop portions and said intermediate open frame portion, and wherein link means is provided for connecting the ends of the resilient wire for limited movement with respect to each other.
4. The structure defined in claim 3 wherein said link means is included in said upper strapreceiving 100p and is disposed in alignment with 10 the button shank channel, and in opposition to said resilient channel wall members.
