My present invention relates generally to improvements in the art of conditioning hair and relates more particularly to improvements in the construction and operation of shampoo soap dispensers and brush units especially adapted for use in washing hair.

A primary object of the present invention is to provide a new and useful improved shampoo brush which is simple and compact in constructicn and highly efficient in use.

A more specific object of this invention is to provide an improved combined hair brush and soap dispenser with which liquid shampoo soap may be readily utilized for effectively cleansing the hair.

Another specific object of my invention is to provide an improved shampoo brush wherein a liquid soap may be conducted to the area being scrubbed in a convenient manner at the will of the user.

Another specific object of the invention is to provide an improved sanitary shampoo brush for hair which may be readily filled with a supply of liquid soap or the like adapted to be conducted in desired quantities to the scrubbing or washing area.

Another specific object of the present invention is to provide an improved hair shampoo brush embodying a soap dispensing unit which is sim ple in construction and wherein the valve means controling the supply of soap dispensed to the scrubbing area is automatically closed.

An additional specific object of this invention is to provide an improved new and useful hair conditioning assemblage which is especially adapted for shampooing and which may be conveniently and quickly manufactured of sheet metal, plastic or the like.

A further specific object of my invention is to provide an improved portable hair washing or shampooing device which may be used by a novice to effectively cleanse hair and which may nevertheless be readily merchandized at relatively low cost.

Still another specific object of my present invention is to provide an improved sanitary and conveniently manipulatable shampoo brush and soap dispenser unit which may be easily manipulated to produce the desired amount of lather during use.

These and other specific objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description.

A clear conception of the several features constituting my present improvement and of the mode of constructing and of utilizing shampoo brushes built in accordance with my invention may be had by referring to the drawing accompanying and forming a part of this specification wherein like reference characters designate the same or similar parts in the several views.

Fig. 1 is a top view of an improved shampoo brush and soap dispenser assemblage built in accordance with my invention and with the cover for the soap chamber removed; and

Fig. 2 is a section through the brush taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

While the invention has been shown and described herein as being specifically applied to a brush and liquid soap dispensing assemblage especially adapted for shampooing or otherwise conditioning hair it is not my desire or intention to thereby unnecessarily restrict the scope or utility of the improvement.

Referring to the drawing, the improved shampoo brush assemblage comprises, in general, a substantially fiat brush plate 5 having bristles 6 projecting from the face thereof and having an integral stub shaft 1 projecting centrally fromthe back side thereof, the brush plate 5 being provided with an aperture 8 shown as being a radial slot; a gripping handle 9 secured to or for-medfintegral with the brush plate 5 and projecting laterally therefrom, the handle 9 being provided with an upward projection or stop Ill; an annular casing ll having an inner wall l2 formed to em brace the stub shaft 1, and an outer wall I3 of sufficient height to extend some distance above the stub shaft 1, the casing l l forming a housing for liquid soap and having one or more apertures or perforations [4 in the base thereof which are adapted to register with the aperture 8 in the plate 5 upon rotation of the casing; a leaf spring l5 held at one end within a'slot It in the upper end of the stub shaft 1 by a pin I! and extending laterally from the shaft 1 toward the inner sur face of the outer wall It of the casing H, and cooperating with inwardly extending lugs l8, l8 formed on the outer casing wall l3; a trigger it formed on the outer surface of the casing outer wall l3 and adapted to cooperate with the stop It) on the handle 9 during use, as will hereinafter be more fully described; and a cover 29 for the casing H,

The brush plate 5 may be formed of any suit able material such as metal, plastic or rubber and the bristles 6 may be secured to the plate 5 in any suitable well-known manner. The handle 9 may be attached to the plate 5, or it may be formed 7 integral therewith and the trigger stop It may 5 casing is out of registry to the aperture in said plate.

4. A shampoo brush assemblage comprising, a brush plate having bristles projecting from the face thereof and having a stationary stub shaft projecting from the back thereof, said brush plate having an aperture therethrough, an annular casing having imier and outer walls forming a liquid soap housing mounted for rotation about said shaft with said inner wall surrounding said shaft, said casing having its bottom contiguous with the top of said brush plate and having an aperture therein adapted for registry with the aperture insaid brush plate, an inwardly directed lug formed on the outer wall of said casing, means associated with said casing for rotating the same a predetermined distance about said shaft to cause the aperture in said casing to register with the aperture in said plate, and means carried by said shaft and cooperable with the inner wall of said casing for maintaining said casing in position on said shaft, said last mentioned means being also cooperable with the lug on the outer casing wall to automatically return said casing to a position in which the aperture in said casing is out of register with the aperture in said plate.

5. A shampoo brush assemblage comprising, a brush plate having bristles projecting from the face thereof and having a stationary stub shaft projecting from the back thereof, said brush plate having an aperture therethrough, an annular casing having inner and outer walls forming a liquid soap housing mounted for rotation about said shaft with the inner casing wall surrounding said shaft, said casing having its bottom contiguous with the top of said brush plate and having an aperture therein adapted for registry with the aperture in said brush plate, an inwardly directed lug formed on the outer casing wall, means associated with said casing for rotating the same a predetermined distance about said shaft to cause the aperture in said casing to register with the aperture in said plate, and a leaf spring secured to said shaft and extending laterally therefrom about the inner casing wall and adapted to coact with the lug of the outer wall of said casing to maintain said casing in position on said shaft and to automatically return said casing to a position in which the aperture in said casing is out of registry with the aperture in said plate.
