2 Claims.

My invention relates to a portable shower inclosure means more particularly for use in inclosing the area above the bathtub'or the like for retaining shower spray within said area for drainage thereof into said bathtub or the like, and the objects of my invention are:

'First, to provide a means of this class which may be applied to various bathtubs very quickly and easily when desired for use and may be removed very quickly and easily when desired;

Second, to provide a means of this class which is directly supported on a bathtub and which does not obstruct the access to said bathtub;

Third, to provide "a means of this class which provides bathing privacy within a bathroom;

Fourth, to provide a means of this class in which the curtain supporting frame member is in the form of a rectangular boom supported above the bathtub by means connected with one end of said bathtub whereby the accessibility thereto is unobstructed;

Fifth, to provide a means of this cleass in which the curtain thereof may be slidably shifted at either side or at the end of the bathtub as desired; and v.

Sixth, to provide a means of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, eflicient in its action and which will not readily deteriorate or getout oforder.

With these and other objects in view as will I appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon forming a part of this application in which:

The curtain l, frame members 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, clip 1, and the cable 8 constitute the principal parts and portions .of my portable shower inclosure means.

The frame member 2 is a rod-like member preferably made of light material in tubular form, or the like, and this frame member 2 extends transversely of the bathtub B and rests on the upper edges thereof at opposite sides and is connected to the clips I which locate the frame memher 2 transversely of the bathtub l8, thus preventing the frame member 2 from shifting parallel toits longitudinal axis. 0

} Secured to the frame member 2 at the middle thereof is the vertical frame member 3 which is preferably of the same material and construction as the frame member 2. Secured to this frame member 3 and extending substantially horizontally therefrom at right angles to the frame memher 2 are the frame members 4 and 5. These frame members 4 and 5 extend toward the faucet end of the bathtub B, as shown best in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the frame member being a short distance above the bathtub B while the frame member 5 is positioned a short distance from the upper end. 3a of the vertically disposed frame member 3.

The frame member 6, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, is substantially rectangular in shape and is secured at its opposite ends to the vertically disposed frame member 3 near the juncture of the frame member 5 therewith. This frame member 6 forms thecurtain support and is a rectangularly shaped loop substantially conforming to the outline of the bathtub B for inclosing the area directly thereover.

The outwardly extending corners Ba and 6b are connected to bifurcated portions 8a and 3b of the cable 8; which bifurcated portions converge at a portion 80 of the cable 8 which extends therefrom over the upper end of the vertically disposed frame member 3 and forwardly over the ends of each of the horizontal frame members 4 and 5. The one end of the cable 8 is secured to the faucet A of the bathtub B or any other suitable object in connection therewith, as shown best in Fig. 2 of the drawings. Thus the cable 8 is maintained in tension and supports the outer portion 60 of the frame member 6 together with the curtain l. The clips I prevent the frame member 2 from shifting sideways, it being noted, however, that these clip members I may be positioned against the inner side walls of the bathtub B in case they are intended for use in connection with a bathtub sealed to the wall of the bathroom at one side.

The operation of my portable shower inclosure means is substantially as follows:

When it is desired to take a shower in the bathtub B, the conventional shower may be secured to the faucet A in order to provide spray for the shower. The curtain I is slidably positioned on the frame member 6 at its upper end and may be forced along the frame member 6,

as desired, or the curtain I may be simply pushed aside to permit the entrance of a person into the area over the bottom of the bathtub B. If privacy alone is desired, the curtain I may be permitted to hang on the outer side of the bathtub B or the curtain may be positioned at the inner side walls of the bathtub at its lower edge providing certain drainage of the shower spray directly into the bathtub.

If it is desired to remove my portable shower inclosure means from the bathtub, the cable 8 is simply disconnected from the faucet A at its end 8b and the frame members 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, together with the clip 1, cable 8 and the curtain I may be lifted from the tub B and removed.

Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be limited to the particular construction, combina-v tion and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of, my invention the construction, com-. bination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

,1. In a portable shower inclosure means of the class described, the combination of a rod-like frame member adapted to engage the upper edges of a bathtub intermediate. its ends having sup porting portions at opposite ends thereof, a vertical frame member extendin upwardly from substantially the middle portion of said. first mentioned frame member, horizontal frame members in spaced relation to each other secured to said vertical frame member parallel to said first mentioned frame member, a substantially rectangular frame member extending in the opposite direction from said horizontal frame members having its opposite ends secured to said vertical frame member and extending substantially horizontally therefrom and forming a curtain boom and a cable secured to the outwardly extending portion of said substantially rectangular frame member and extending over the upper end of said vertical frame member and the extending ends of said horizontal frame members, the opposite end of said cable secured to a stationary object whereby said cable is maintained in tension parallel to said vertical frame for supporting said curtain boom.

2. In a portable shower inclosure means of the class described for use in connection with a bathtub, a frame member extending across said bathtub spaced from the end thereof and resting on the upper edges thereof at opposite sides of the bathtub, a vertical frame member secured to said first mentioned frame member substantially at the middle portion thereof, a third frame member in the form of a loop connected to said vertical frame member and extending horizontally a certain distance above said bathtub, a curtain slidably supported on said third frame member and extending above .the loop portion thereof, the lower edge of said curtain positioned in the proximity of said bathtub, clip means in connection with said first frame memher and engaging the opposite sides of said bathtub for locating said first mentioned frame member transversely of; said bathtub,v said first mentioned frame member positioned near one end of said bathtub and horizontal frame member secured in connection with said vertical frame member and extending toward said one end of said bathtub, a cablesecured in connection with the outwardly extending portion of said third mentioned frame member and extending toward said one end of said bathtub over; the upper end of said vertical frame member and the extending ends of said horizontal frame members, the opposite end of said cable secured to a fixture of said bathtub near said one end thereof.
