ET AL CARRIER CASE 2 Shees-Shee'l; l

CARRIER CASE 2 SheeJcs--Sheel 2 Filed Maoh 3.5, 194@ ATTORN EY Patented Dec. Z7,l 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CARRIER CASE Samuel Marcus, New York, and Evan J. Anton, Sunnyside, N. Y., assignors to Associated Photo Products Inc., New York, N. Y.
Application March 15, 1946, Serial No. 654,764 2 Claims. (Cl. 342-20) The present invention relates-to a carrier case, and more particularly to a carrier case for transporting a projector, especially used for projecting stills The present invention especially aims to providing a carrier case which embodies a projector, an electric' cord, accessories, and a sliding drawer vcontaining slides catalogued for immediate selection.
The drawer may be divided with parallel partitions, subdivided by small partitions running at right angles to the parallel partitions, and a separate compartment therein to contain spare parts.
Another novel feature of the present invention is to provide means on the base portion of the carrier case `for removably securing the projector thereto.
When the cover is placed over the projector the inside of the cover will engage with the top `of the projector, so that, when the carrier case is transported from place to place, the projector is held down by means on the base portion and with the assistance of the cover Will not become dislodged.
Another object of the present invention is to provide the base portion of the carrier case fully equipped with the projector and slides all ready for immediate use.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will be obvious as brought out in the following specification.
Reference will be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the carrier case assembled;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the base portion of the carrier case;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the drawer containing the slides;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the base portion, showing how the projector is secured thereto; and
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary detail of the front portion of the drawer, showing how the cover of the case locks the drawer in place.
Referring to the drawings, wherein I have shown, by way of illustration merely, a projector carrier case comprising a base portion I0, a cover I I, a handle I2, and the conventional snap hooks I3 on each side thereof for securing the cover II to the base portion l0.
The base portion I0, which is preferably rectangular in shape, comprises a bottom I4, two side pieces I5 and I6 and an end portion I1.
The three upright sides I5, I6 and I1 have a top plate I8 secured thereon in any desirable manner.
The top plate I8, which is covered by a layer of felt I9, has a pair of nat brackets 20 secured thereto, preferably made of wood, with cut-out portions 2I on the inner ends thereof to engage with the contour of the rear end of the projector 22. The front end of the projector 22 is held rmly in place by a locking plate 23, which is secured to the top plate I8 by a screw 24.
The end of the locking plate 23, facing the projector is undercut as shown at 25 in Fig. 4, to ride over the base plate 26 of the elevator on the projector. f
Mounted between the bottom IllI and the top plate I8 of the base portion I0 is a sliding drawer 21 covering substantially the entire length of the base portion I0.
The drawer has the usual upstanding side pieces 28 and 29 and the end pieces 3|) and 3l xed to the bottom 32 in any desirable manner.
The drawer may be divided by a plurality of parallel partitions 33, running lengthwise of the drawer, and also may be subdivided by partitions 34 interconnecting the parallel partitions 33 for subdividing the compartments.
The drawer may also be provided with a rear compartment 35 for containing spare parts, such as, for example, a focusing barrel or other accessories.
The compartments divided and subdivided in the drawer are arranged to contain picture slides 36, which may be prearranged and catalogued so that they may be immediately selected. It might be mentioned here that when the cover II is secured to base I0, and the case is ready to be transported or put aside in the home there will be enough space between each side of the projector and the side walls of the cover II to place some additional drawers containing more slides.
For initially mounting the projector on the top plate I8, it is only necessary to slide the base plate 2G connected to the elevating rods 31, beneath the undercut portion 25 of the locking plate 23 and then drop the rear end of the projector into the cut-out portion 2I of the brackets 20.
It will be seen that when the projector is securely mounted to the top plate I8 as shown in Fig. 4, and the cover I I is placed thereon, so that, the under side of cover II will engage with the la cover having snap locks thereon top of the projector, the projector will 'be held substantially rigid therein and will not be dislodged during transportation.
When the cover I I is placed over the projector the bottom edge 39 of the cover I I will engage with the anged portions 38 on the base I0 and also the ange 40 on the drawer 2'I will be overlapped by the front side 42 of the cover II to lock the drawer in itsproper position and prevent it from sliding out during transportation of the carrier case.
The electric cord 43 is threaded out between the brackets 20 and placed on the top plate I8 on one side of the projector. In; operating the projector at home or elsewhere, it is only necessary.' t
to place the carrier case on a suitable table'andi` remove the cover II and rotatev the elevating. wheel 44, to properly focus the projector on the screen, after of course, the electric plug isy inserted into a handy suitable wall socket.
'Ehe usual slide carrier 45- is; already4 in, the machine ready to. receive the slides fron'i-` the drawer for' projection.
Many modifications; may be made from the present invention without; departing from the spirit thereof, for example, this particular carrier case has been designed especially to accommodate a. newly designed' projector, but any conventional projector nowI onV the; market may be secured. to a carrier case of this type by the provision of novel means conforming tothe various types of contours of the` projectors.
We claim:
l..` A carriercasefor.V transporting a projector of pictureV slides andaccessories comprising, a rectangular hollow base portion; open: at one end, a sliding drawer substantially covering the entire area of said hollow base portion having longitudinal and transverse partitions therein forming compartments for accommodating a series of picturey slides arranged to be properly projected in sequence, a ange on the front of said drawer, abase plate secured' to the top of said hollow base portion, an arcuate platev 'xed to said base plate for' holdingr the arcuate shaped rear end of a projector, a. bracket secured to said base plate adjacent ther front of` said projector engaging with. the elevating mechanism on the projector, for engaging with fasteners on said hollow base portion, and
4 means on said cover engaging said ange in said drawer for locking said drawer in place.
2. A carrier case for transporting a projector of picture slides, and accessories comprising, a rectangular hollow base portion being enclosed on the top, bottom and three sides, a sliding drawer adapted to be inserted into the open end of said base portion andy substantially covering the entire area of said hollow base portion having a transverse partition adjacent the rear thereof forming a compartment for the accommodation of accessories, a plurality of longitudinal partitions extending from the front of said drawer to the. aforesaid transverse partition, a
plurality of: transverse partitions subdividing the compartmentsl formed by the longitudinal partitions. intoY a plurality of compartments for the accommodation of a series of picture slides properly arranged for projection, an upwardly extending flange on the front of said drawer, a base plate secured' to the top cover of said rectangular hollow base portion;v a stopplate,v fixed to said base plate having a-n arcuate cut-out portion thereon for accommodating an arcuate rear end of a projector,y a bracket, mounted on said, base plate adjacent the front, end of said projector having an undercut, portion facing. the front end of said projector and projecting over a bridge plate connecting two vertical rods on the elevatinginechanism of said projector, a. cover fitting oversaidprojector and' touching the. top thereof when in place, having snaplocks thereon cooperating with fastenerson. said hollow base portion, and means on said cover engagingV said Bangeon said drawerV for holding; said drawer within said hollow base portion..
