This invention relates to a colostomy pad keeper.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a colostomy pad keeper which can be tted to a belt in such a manner as to permit the s-ame to be adjusted on the belt and wherein the face of the keeper with which the belt must engage is straight so that the belt is not in any way distorted by its connection with the back face of the keeper.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a colostomy pad keeper which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to assemble, convenient to use and eflicient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the keeper assembled upon a belt and the belt connected together about the body of the patient and of a strap connected between the belt and the keeper to extend about the leg to hold down the pad and the belt.
Fig. 2 is an end face view of the keeper.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view, in elevation, taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. e is a flexible strap adapted to be secured to the outer face of the keeper and through which the belt may extend.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary plan View of one end of the strap adapted to extend beneath the leg and adapted to be connected to the keeper.
Referring now to the gures, I represents a belt adapted to be extended about the body of the wearer of a colostomy pad I2. The belt has a buckle II for securing the ends of the same together. According to the present invention, there is provided a keeper I3 for receiving the pad I2.
This keeper is generally of concaved shape and has an exterior surface including a flat central face Id for receiving belt I0. The belt I!) will engage with this face I4 and is retained by a iiexible strap l5 which is secured at its upper end by a screw I6 to the top of the keeper and at its lower end by a screw Il to the lower end of the keeper. The screw Il has a button formation I8 over which a prepared end I 9 of a strap 20 is extended. The end IS is stitched to the strap 20 as indicated at ZI and has an opening 22 for receiving the button formation I8. Accordingly,
the strap 20 can be readily and quickly detached at times when the apparatus is being detached from the body or when the apparatus is being connected and the strap 20 extended about the leg of the wearer. The strap 20 is connected by `a buckle 24 to a slide 25 on the belt.
In order to remove the keeper I3 from the belt, one of the screws I6 or I1 is removed in order that the flexible strap I5 can be lifted from one end. The strap has holes 21 and 28 in their respective opposite ends of the same. These holes are adapted to receive the screws.
The keeper I3 can be adjusted along the belt. The strap however will hold the keeper in friction tight engagement with the belt. The belt is not distorted over the keeper, the portion of the keeper at I4 being smooth and straight.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as deiined by the appended claim.
I claim:
A colostomy pad -apparatus comprising a belt adapted to extend about the body of a wearer, a keeper element of concave shape and having a straight rear face, a strap extended over the straight rear face and over they belt whereby to secure the keeper to the belt, fastening elements for securing the strap at its opposite ends to the keeper, a leg band having an end formation, one of the fastening elements of the keeper having a formation ad-apted to receive the end formation of the leg strap, the opposite end of the leg strap adapted to extend through a buckle, a slide containing the buckle adjustable upon the belt, and a colostomy pad disposed within the keeper.
