Elbridge'V V. Hall, San Diego, Calif. Application September 16,1946, Serial No. 697,339
' Claims.
My invention relates to a joggle die, more particularly for use in sheet metal formin and the objects of my invention are:'
First, to provide a die 'of this class which is quicklyadjustable for depth of joggle without changing the fixed relationship of the dies in connection with the press to which they are secured; Second, to provide a'joggle die of this class which is provided withquickly changeable inserts, adapted to fit the contour or shape of various parts to'be joggled therein; H
Third, to provide a joggle die of this class having inserts in which various radii are meshed to fit and form a smooth pressure surface at the ioggle break in metal of various gauges;
Fourth, to provide a joggle die of this class in 'which depth adjustment of the joggle may be made with stepped-up blocks'or, shims;
Fifth, to provide a joggle die of this class which lends itself to mass production of sheet metal parts to be joggled; and
Sixth, to provide a joggle die of this class which is 'very simple and economical in construction, eflicient in its action, and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects in view, as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain'novel features of construction, combination and arrangementof parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference'being' had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon forming a part of this application in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my jo's le die showing the male and female structure thereof 7 in superimposed relationship ready for use .in joggling parts; Figure 2 is a fragmentary top or plan view of the female structure of my joggle die taken from the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a fragmentarybottom or'plan view of. the male structure of my joggle die; and Fig. 4 is a frag--v mentary sectional view taken from the line 4-4 of Fig. 1. V i
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several views of the drawings.
