Description

June- 21, 1949. c. T. LA MONT 2,473,594
COMBINATION COMB AND TOILET ARTICLE HOLDER Filed June 23, 1947 INVENTOR CHARLES T. LA MONT ATTORNEYS Patented June 21, 1949 STATES PATENT OFFICE COMBINATION COMB AND TOILET 1 Claim.
My invention refers to foldable pocket combs or the like, and it has for its primary object to provide a hollow handle developing a storage compartment for toilet articles and an open sided shield for a foldable comb. The particular object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive article especially designed for female use, the same being a pocket or container for all toilet articles that may be required, such as: pins of all kinds, a small linger file or a lipstick and These toilet articles are all stored within a hollow handle, whereby the same can be readily accessible, which articles are usually scattered loosely in a handbag.
This specific object of my invention is to provide a one piece handle folded from a single sheet of metal or plastic, whereby a longitudinally discompartment is developed in conmanufacture.
While I illustrate my invention in conjunction with a hinge comb, it is within the scope of said invention to also include a blade or scissors pivotally associated with the comb.
With the above and other objects in View, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, substantially as hereinafter described, and more particularly defined by the appended claim, it being understood come within the scope of In the accompanying drawings is illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of the present invention constructed according to the best mode so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 represents a embo illustrate the structural features.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal elevation of same, the section being indicated by line I-l, Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a rear end view of the device particularly illustrating the slideable mouth cover for the hollow handle.
Fig. 4 is a cross section of the device, section being indicated by line 4 4 of Fig. 2.
Referring by character to the drawings, the handle is provided with a longitudinally disposed pocket l, for the reception of toilet articles, having a bottom strip 2. Below the bottom strip and extending parallel therewith is an open sided shield 3 for encasing a comb 4.
The handle is fabricated from a single sheet of portion is secured to the bottom wall 2.
The opposite side of said bottom wall 2 is then folded upon itself to form an open sided shield or casing 5 for the reception of the comb 4 as clearly indicated.
The front ends of the sheet sections 2 and 3 form jaws for pivotally connecting the shank end of the comb by a rivet 6.
The rear end forme partment is closed at said end.
This compartment is adapted to receive any toilet articles that may be required, for example: different types of pins, a small file, a lipstick or the like.
open position as indicated While I have particularly emphasized the fact that the toilet article is especially adapted for use with females, it is manifest that it also may be similarly as convenient for use of the male sex.
I claim:
As a new article of manufacture a pocket comb or the like, comprising an elongated one piece sheet longitudinally folded upon itself to form an open sided shield, a compartment above the shield having an open mouth at one end, a comb or like article pivoted to one end of the shield, and a friction controlled cover for engaging the mouth of said compartment, the same being adapted to house various toilet articles.
CHARLES T. LA MONT.
