This invention pertains to improvements in folding boxes. More particularly, this invention is directed to a folding box of telescopic construction for use as a receptacle for papers, files, and the like.

One of the objects of this invention is to provide a compact folding box composed of an outer case and a receptacle to slide therein arranged to contain papers which may be examined or partially withdrawn without removing them completely from the box, and without separating the receptacle from the case, with the least loss of time.

Another object of this invention is to provide a folding box having an outer case and a receptacle to slide therein in which the outer case is provided with a novel window arrangement serving of the case to lock the receptacle into the box.

Figure 4 is a view of the outer case stretched out fiat showing its configuration.

Figure 5 shows one methodof stacking a group of folding boxes for display.

Figure 6 shows another method of stacking a series of the folding boxes for display.

The folding box comprises a case member [0 and a receptacle ll telescopically slidable in the to allow examination of the papers in the recep- V tacle either from the top of the box or from the end of the box while the box remains in totally closed condition.

Another object is to provide a folding box having an outer case and a receptacle telescopically slidable therein in which there is provided a window flap on the case which serves both as the means for viewing the contents of the box from the top and end and also as the lock for maintaining the receptacle in closed condition in the case.

And still another object is to provide a folding box of special design for containing such items as fan-folded gummed labels arried in accordion-pleated continuous strips in the box in such a way as to facilitate the examination of the contents in the box and to be partially opened to allow the continuous removal of the folded label strip therefrom.

While the apparatus herein disclosed and described constitutes a preferred form of the invention, it is to be understood that the apparatus is capable of mechanical alteration without departing from the spirit of the invention and that such mechanical arrangementsand commercial adaptations as fall within the scope of the appendant claims are intended to be included herein.

Having thus fully set forth and described this invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by United States Letters Patent is:

1. In a folding box comprising an outer case andthehinge whichconnectstheflaptothetop of the case member being located rearwardly of the front of the case member.

2. In a folding box comprising an outer case member, a flap forming a portion of the top of the said, case member, said flap being hinged to the remaining portion of the top. a tongue hinged to the free end of the flap and extending downwardly at the end of the case member, a receptacle sliding within said case member, a viewing window formed both in said flap and in said tongue, a transparent closure over said window attached to said flap and tongue and extending across the hinge therebetween, a cut-away pormember, a flap forming a portion of the top of the said case member, said flap being hinged to the remaining portion of the top, a tongue hinged to the free end of the flap and extending downwardly at the end of the case member, a receptacle sliding within said case member, a viewing window formed both in said flap and in said tongue, a transparent closure over said win- 4 tongue whereby the contents of said box are exposed toview from the front and top of said box,
