Application April 30, 1946, Serial No. 665,948
(Cl. 24e-2) 4 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in corner wall lamps.
An object of the invention is to provide an improved Icorner wall lamp construction which will include a lamp bulb containing compartment having an opening formed through its lower end whereby the reflection of the lamp bulb or bulbs and the light emanating therefrom will be visible in the several mirrors placed in the lamp frame to complete the wall and base structure of the lamp.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved corner wall lamp construction which will include a frame formed of wood or plastics, the same being formed at its upper end with a lamp bulb receiving compartment and a storage space in its lower portion, together with a plurality of glass reflecting mirrors disposed in said frame between said lamp bulb containing `compartment and said storage space.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved corner wall lamp which will perform the combined functions of a lamp, a storage space, mirror surfaces and a wall bracket for supporting one or more objects.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved corner wall lamp which will be highly efficient in use, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improved corner wall lamp;
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure l;
Figure 3 is a, side elevation of the improved corner wall lamp;
Figure 4 is a sectional View taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a sectional View taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 1.
Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In lcarrying out the invention, there is provided a corner wall lamp frame generally denoted by the reference numeral I and including a pair of outwardly extending side frame members 2 and 3 arranged at right angles to each other, and being similarly apertured through their central portions as at 4 and 5. Annularly disposed inwardly extending seats or flanges 6 are formed about the said apertures 4 and 5, and support the glass reflecting mirrors 1 and 8.`
A shelf Q having a hollow storage compartment l@ is formed integrally with the side frame members 2 and 3 and connects the lower ends thereof, and extends forwardly therefrom, being provided with a scalloped front edge I l. An annular supporting seat I2 is formed about the upper edge of the storage compartment IB, and is adapted to removably support the glass reflecting Amirror I3 to extend flush with the upper surface of the said shelf 9. It will be understood that the mirror I3 may be readily removed when it is desired to place articles in the compartment I0 or remove them therefrom.
The forwardly extending combined lamp bulb supporting compartment and platform I4 extends between the side frame members 2 and 3 adjacent their upper ends and is formed integrally therewith, the same being provided with a forward scalloped edge I5.
The platform I4 is recessed at I6 to receive one or more electric sockets Il for supporting the lamp bulbs I8, said sockets I1 being adapted for connection with an electric current supply outlet (not shown) in any desired manner.
An inwardly extending annular seat or flange I9 is formed about the lower end of the side wall 2li of the light bulb receiving compartment or recess It, and is adapted to support the transparent glass plate or disc 2 I. The inner peripheral edge of the seat or flange I-S is serrated as at 22 to give an attractive appearance.
A peripheral or annular seat 23 is formed about the upper edge of the side wall 20 of the recess lli, and is adapted to receive the plate or disc 24 formed of wood or plastic which will extend flush with the upper surface of the said platform I4.
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that the corner wall lamp will be suitably supported in a room corner, and that articles may be placed on the spaced shelves or platforms 9 and I4', also articles may be received within the storage compartment I0 in said shelf 9.
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A corner wall lamp including an integrally formed frame having outwardly extending apertured side walls arranged at right angles to each other, mirrors in said apertures in the side walls, an apertured light bulb receiving com partment extending forwardly above said :mirrors integrally connected with said side walls, light bulbs therein, a transparent disc seated in the lower end of said compartment, a removable disc closure for the upper end of said compartment and a storage compartment extending horizontally at the lower end of the side walls and having a reecting surface disposed in vertical alignment with the transparent disc in the light bulb receiving compartment,
2. A corner wall lamp including an integrally formed frame having outwardly extending apertured side walls arranged at right angles to each other, mirrors in said apertures in the side walls, an apertured light bulb receiving compartment extending forwardly above said mirrors yand integrally connected with said side walls,
light bulbs therein, a transparent disc seated in 'thelower end of said compartment, -a removable disc lclosure for the upper vend of said compartment, a forwardly extending platform compartment integrally connected with said walls below the mirrors.
3. The subject matter asfclaimed in claim 2, and a disc-shaped mirror closure for said storage compartment extending flush with the top oi said platform.
4L The subject matter as claimed in claim 2, a disc-shaped mirror closure for the said storage compartment extending flush With the top of said platform, and seats formed in said lamp bulb receiving compartment and in said storage compartment for detachably supporting said mirrors and disc closures.
