This invention relates to an improved implement for supporting clothes and the like.

An object of this invention is to provide an improved hanger for supporting wearing apparel when the condition thereof requires such treatment.

Another object of this invention is to provide means for selectively and adjustably securing the line thereof.

Another object of this invention is to provide means for anchoring the single support of the invention in a permanent fixed position.

A still further object of this invention is to provide means for readily adjusting the clothes line frame to the desired position.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a device which is easily dismantled and fabricated.

Another object of this invention is to provide a device of the character described which is inexpensive, durable and extremely simple in operation.

Ancillary objects and features of novelt will be specifically pointed out or will become readily apparent to those skilled in the art, in following the description of the single preferred embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is an elevational side view of a preferred embodiment of the instant invention;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary side view of the leg, brace and shaft forming part of the instant invention;

Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional detail showing a bearing used in conjunction with the instant invention;

Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional detail of another bearing used in conjunction herewith;

Figure 5 is a fragmentary detail in section showing a third bearing used in conjunction with the instant invention, and

Figure 61s a fragmentary sectional detail showing the preferred clamping means used for securing the transverse cross-members to the shaft Q 2 other end of the said leg Ill is a T-shaped bearing it having its longitudinal axis normal to the said leg. An aperture I8 is provided at substantially the longitudinal center thereof.

A brace 20 is rotatably received on the said leg l0 through the medium of a suitable bearing 22. A stop or collar 24 is received on and secured to the said leg Ill, the function of which is to limit the downward travel of the member 20. As is seen from an inspection of Figures 1 and 2, the said brace 20 is angularly extended with respect to the said leg l0 and a third bearing or sleeve 26 is provided at the end thereof.

Received in the bearings 16 and 26 is a shaft 28 having a plurality of apertures 30 therethrough. Removably secured by some suitable means as the bolts 32, to the ends thereof are transverse rods 34. A plurality of clotheslines 36 made of wire, rope or the like, are strung between the said transverse cross-members.

In operation, the device may be rotated about the leg Ill as a vertical axis and the clothesllne frame may be rotated about the shaft 28 as a second axis. When the desired positions are ascertained, the pins 38 are placed in the appropriate apertures l8. In order to limit endwise travel of the said shaft 28, cotter pins 40 are received in appropriate apertures 30.

As is now apparent, a clothes rack is herein above described, which is capable of adjustment radially in a plane and capable of adjustment relative to the angular position of the clothesline. It is further apparent that a device is provided which requires little or no mechanical skill to assemble.

While there has been described but a single preferred embodiment of the instant invention, it is understood that various changes including omissions and additions may be made herein without departing from the spirit of the invention. Accordingly, limitation is sought only in accordance with the scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A clothesllne support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for locking said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, and means attached to said shaft for supporting a clothesllne.

A clothesllne support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for locking said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, and a pair of transverse cross-members removably secured to the ends of said shaft, having clotheslines secured therebetween.

A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably freceived thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means'for locking said shaft in. selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, said first means including apertures in said shafts and bearings, and studs received therein and means mounted on said shaft for supporting a clothesline.

A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for locking said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, a pair of transverse cross-members removably secured to the ends of said shaft, having clotheslines secured therebetween, said first means including apertures in said shafts and bearings, and studs received therein.

A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg. a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for lockin said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, a pair of transverse cross-members removably secured to the ends of said shaft, having clotheslines secured therebetween,said first means including apertures in said shafts and bearings, and studs received therein, said means including a removable locking pin extending through openings in said brace and said leg.

6.A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said le and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for locking said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, said means including a removable locking pin received in apertures in said leg and said brace and means attached to said shaft for supporting a clothesline.

A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said leg and a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, first means for lockin said shaft in selective positions, means for locking said brace in selectedpcsitions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, said means including a removable locking pin received in apertures in said leg and said brace, said anchoring means comprising a transverse lug through said leg adapted to be received in a concrete revetment and the like, and cross members carried by said shaft for supporting at least one clothesline.

A clothesline support comprising a vertical leg, a brace rotatably received thereon, a bearing on said le and'a bearing on the end of said brace, a shaft received in said bearings, means mounted on said shaft for supporting a clothesline, first meansfor locking said shaft in se ective positions, means for locking said brace in selected positions relative to said leg, anchoring means secured to said leg, said anchoring means comprising a transverse lug through said leg adapted to be received-in a concrete revetment and the like.

In a clothes line support, a vertical leg, a brace having a bearing at one end and a sleeve at the opposite end having a longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to said leg, said bearing being rotatively disposed on said leg, a shaft rotatively positioned in said sleeve, a bearing carried by said vertical leg supporting said shaft, cross members, means mounting said cross members at the ends of said shaft for supporting at least one clothes line therebetween, whereby upon rotation of said shaft said cross members may be rotated to approach substantially parallelism with respect to said leg.

10. The combination of claim 9 and a stop mounted on said leg beneath said brace bearing to prevent vertical movement of said bearing on leg.

11. The combination of claim 10 and said bearing on said leg being substantially T-shaped and mounted for rotation at one end of said leg.

12. The combination of claim 11 and locking means associated with said T-shaped bearing and operating on said shaft to retain said shaft in selected positions of rotation.

13. The combination of claim 12 and means adjacent the opposite end of said leg for anchoring said leg in the vertical position.

14. The combination of claim 13 and detachable means mounted in said shaft engaging the ends of said sleeve for preventing axial movement of said shaft.

15. The combination of claim 14 and detachable locking means associated with said sleeve to prevent rotative mov'ement of said shaft.

16. The combination of claim 15; said brace being disposed at an angle with relation to said vertical leg, and said detachable locking means including a pin, said sleeve and said shaft having apertures therein with said pin disposed in said apertures.

17. The combination of claim 16 and said shaft having an axial bore, said cross members mounting means including lateral extensions on said cross members disposed in said axial bore.
