This invention relates generally to the class of toilet articles and is directed particularly to improvements in manicuring devices, more especially a device for use in pedal manicure.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide a manicure device of the character stated which combines in one compact unit all of the articles necessary to a complete pedicure or treatment of the feet.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated wherein there is combined with a 'body forming a handle and having associated therewith a pair of files, a cutter in the form of a clipper or snipper, for trimming the nails, and a removable cap being provided which screws onto the end of the handle forming body 'to enclose the clipper to shield the same when it is not in 'use. v

Another object of the invention is to provide a combination implement "of the character stated which has in addition to the clipper attached to one end of the handle forming body, a scraper having a head resembling a safety razor, with opposite relatively sharp edges which may be used safely for the removal of dead skin and ,calluses.

The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming a part of the specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not to be understood as limited to the exact details of construction shown and described since obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.

In the drawing:

Figure 1 is a view partly in side elevation and partly in section showing an implement constructed in accordance with the present invention, the scraper being removed.

Figure 2 is a view in side elevation of the implement showing the clipper cap removed and showing the clipper in top plan, the scraper being removed.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary view partly in section showing a portion of the handle body and the scraper attached thereto.

Figure 4 is a sectional view, on an enlarged scale, taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 2.

Referring now more particularly to the drawing the numeral IEI generally designates the body 1 Claim. (Cl.

The body I0 is preferably formed of solid material ,of suitable character and preferably,

though not necessarily, is of circular cross, sectionga's shown in Figure '6.

When'made in this cross sectional 'form' the body l ll "has fixed to opposite sides the relatively long file bodies l3 and id respectively. These bodies are of the same transverse curvature as the-handlebody it to which they are secured as-shown in Figure-6.

I At one end the handle body so is provided with the reduced stem 15 which is screw threaded as indicated at 16 to receive and. be'connected with the open end of a long tubular cap ll. This cap at its open end is interiorly screw threaded as indicated at l8 for threaded connection with the stem 15 while the opposite end of the cap is stantial width as shown in Figure 2 and each terminates in the curved cutting edge portion 23.

Opposite sides of one of the blades, here shown as the blade 22, have formed integral therewith the spaced parallel ears 24 which extend across the side edges of the adjacent blade and between these ears is pivotally engaged by means of the pins 25, the laterally turned or angled foot portion 26 of the lever 21. The rear end of this lever is cut off or tapered as indicated at 28 for the purpose about to be described.

The base portion 20 of the cutters is screw threaded to receive the locking nut 29 by means of which the lever 21 is secured in lowered or down position. This locking nut 29 has the annular groove 30 in the forward face thereof to receive the tapered end 28 of the lever 21. It will be readily apparent that when the locking nut 29 is threaded back and the lever 21 pushed down, by then threading the nut 29 forwardly the tapered end 28 will be engaged in the circular groove 30 so'that the lever will be held in place. The

At the opposite end of the base portion In there is formed the axial threaded socket or bore 33. This socket is provided to receive the threaded stem portion 34 which forms an integral part of a scraper head which is generally designated 35.

The scraper head 35 is of generally arcuate form and the opposite edges 39 are sharpened to facilitate the cutting away or scraping away of calluses and dead flesh.

The stem 34 includes as an integral part thereof the collar 37 which limits the inward threading of the stem 34 into the socket and provides a solid support against the end of the base portion 19 for the scraper.

In order to protect the cutting or scraping edges 36 of the callus removing head, there is provided the arcuate resilient cover or cap, which may be made of any suitable material such as metal,

From the foregoing it will be readily apparent that there is provided in the present invention a novel, compact and serviceable tool or instrument for use in manicure operations, more particularly for manicuring the toenails and generally treating the feet. r
