This invention relates to chairs and especially to chairs combined-with tables which maybe knocked down and reassembled without tools.

The objects of thy-invention are-first, to prowide a child's chair "and 'table'whichmaybe knocked down, packed in a relativelysmflll case, and reassembled'with-ease and speed; second, to improve certain interconnections whereby the several parts are secured together; and third, to form the said parts of the chair in such proportions that, when disassembled, "they" fit together and may be inserted :a carrying .case. A further object is to provide a chair and table which may be readily carried in a passenger automobile "and reassembled err-arrival at the destination; be it at a friend'shome, a restaurant, or other place and 'in that mannerto safely care for the child.

I attain these and other objects by the devices and arrangements illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the combined chair and table assembled; Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are respectively a plan, a side, and an end elevation of the table; Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the frame or stand; Figs. 6 and 7 are plan and elevation of the seat; Figs. 8 and 9 are plans of the two seat sides; Fig. 10 is a plan of theseat back; Fig. 11 is a plan of the stand brace; Figs. 12 and 13 are plan and end elevation of the foot rest; and Fig. 14 is a perspective view of the carrying case.

Similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

All the parts of this seat and table are preferably constructed of plywood, the several pieces being cut out to specific shapes and adapted to .1 Claim. (Cl. HIS- 124) be interconnected or assembled in such manner that the entire structure forms a strong and stable unit in which the respective members each holds the other in place, and yet which can be readily disassembled.

Referring to the drawings, the stand or frame brace 20 (Fig. 11) is provided with an edge 21 adapted to engage the floor, and with a central slot 22 extending downward one-half way through its width and adapted to engage the main frame above the slot therein. The sides 23 may be cut away substantially as shown, for lightness and for appearance.

The main frame or stand 24 (Fig. 5) is provided with a slot 25 in its lower surface, said slot extending a distance equal to the slot 22, and adapted to receive and interlock with the said brace 29 between its edges. The two interlocked slots 22 and 25 each coacts to hold the parts 20 and 24 at right angles to 'eachother, and their depth "is such that the edge 26 of the'standrests on the floor in the same plane as the edge 24 ofthe brace 20. The ends of the frame flfalso reach the same planeand-form-the *feet 21, under the table and back "of the seat, foriongitudinal stability. When the two parts29'and'24 are thus assembled they form anuprlght structure to which "the other parts are applied. The frame 24 is alsoprovided with a flat portion 28 adapted "to-receive and support the hereinafter described seat and with a similar higher part 29 adapted to-:receive and support the hereinafter described table. This foot rest 3| is placed in said cut away part 30, the rear slot 32 entering a corresponding slot 35 in the frame, and the front slot 32 engaging in a notch 36 in the frame, and the slot 34 of the brace 33 entering the corresponding slot-31 in the part 30 of the frame.

The seat may now be assembled. It consists of a rectangular body 38 (Figs. 6, '7) with a brace 39 on its under side. The brace 39 has a central slot 40 adapted to enter and interlock with the slot 4! in the part 28 of the frame, thus holding it firmly horizontal on the frame. The seat has three pairs of holes 42, 43 and 44 around its edge.

The seat back 45 (Fig. 10) is generally rectangular in shape but has a cut away along its lower edge, and is provided with two dowels 46 extending from its lower edge and adapted to fit in the holes 43 in the seat 38, whereby it is held in substantially upright position on top of the rear portion of the seat 38, until the arms and table are assembled with it. The seat back 45 is also provided with a pair of holes 41 near the centers of its side edges.

The sides or arms of the seat comprise two similar members 48 (Figs. 8, 9) each of which is substantially rectangular except that the rear vertical edges 49 are slightly inclined to fit the incline of the back 45. Each arm 48 is provided with two dowels 50 extending from their lower edges and which fit in the holes 42 and 44, respectively, and with a dowel 5| which fits in the holes 41 in the back 45. Thus the four pieces forming the seat are firmly held together.

The table (Figs. 2, 3, 4) completing the assemthe childwheniseated on the seat, and this opening is provided with two side slots 58 adapted to receive the side edges of the back 45.

Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

In a knockdown combined chair and table, the combination of a single central vertical platelike stand, having forward and rearward upwardly extending portions; 2. vertical brace at right angles to said stand, and means between the upper'edge of the brace and lower edge of the stand to maintain said stand in a vertical position; a seat interlocked with said stand, comprising a horizontal seat plate having a transversedownwardly extending plate brace, interplate brace and the upper edge of the rearward the table, and since they are all flat except for the several braces permanently secured to the under sides of the table, seat, and foot rest, the said parts may be placed on the under side of the table, while theframe 24, brace 20, back- 45 andsidesAB may all be placed on the upper side of the table within the area defined bythe rail 53, thus making a compact parcel. I have also shown, in Fig. 14, the carrier for the said parcel, comprising a cloth covered container 59, oi dimensions suitable to hold the table with-the said parts as thus arranged, and closed by a zipper fastening 60 and having a suitable handle 6|.

, Thus it will be seen that I have invented a knock-down portable combined childs chair and table, which takes up but little room when packaged for transport, and which may be quickly assembled whenever desired, without the use of any tools whatsoever, and as quickly disassembled, packed, and carried .away when not in use.
