The stocking of such a device will elfect a saving in bread and will permitithe ready withdrawal of i the desired' slice `or sli'c'eszas the consumer wishes.
In` the accompanyingcdrawings we have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of our invention according to the best mode we have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may .z claims. (cl. S12- 67) be made in the exemplined structure within the scope of the appended claims.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional View taken at line 3-3 of Figure 4.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional View taken at line 4--4 of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional View taken at line 5-5 of Figure 1.
Figure 6 is a horizontal sectional view taken at line 6-6 of Figure 3.
Figure 7 is a detail View of the drawerconstruction with one drawer open.
Figure 8 is a similar view with the opposite drawer open.
Figure 9 is a detail View of the base of the dispenser.
Fgure 10 is a vertical sectional View through the base showing one end wall of the base and its support for the case.
Figure 11 is a plan view of the drawer.
Referring now to the drawings wherein like characters indicate like parts we have illustrated the present embodiment of our invention as comprising a pedestal 2, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, or feet 2a as shown in Figures 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10, as a support for the box-like base 4 of the dispenser, the base having end walls 6 extending upwardly from the base, and formed with interior shoulders 8 to securely receive and retain the cover or case IIJ. Handles I2 are provided on l the case to facilitate removal thereof. The case is also provided with a removable partition i4 i 2 i lders l8. `The lowercorners ofthe partition'arc notched to accommodatethe shoulders 8. n The base is alsofashionedzwith a lower shoulder FG, and. the breadfslicesl rlest in one stack upon the support orrslider Zil. which is fslid'able `on th'elower` edges of the'rflangesZfZ on the base.

With both drawers closed the wires 28 and 32 are substantially central of the device, and when the lower` drawer 24 is withdrawn as seen in Figure 7, the bread slice confined therein will be withdrawn and lwill drop wire 28 will slide along under the support Without moving the said support and both drawers will be centered.
The upper drawer frame 3d may be opened now dispensing the lowermost slice of the left hand stack, the wire 32 thereby pulling the support following the bread slice intov position under the left hand stack, and the steps will be repeated so long as the drawers are alternately opened and closed.
From the above description of the construction and operation of the device of our invention it will be apparent that the device will dispense fresh bread slices alternately from each side through the drawer` frames therein until the stacks are exhausted. It will then be necessary to remove the case placing two stacks of bread slices therein, and immediately without further` attention, the device is ready for operation as the lowermost slice of one stack will fall into the :frame not covered by the support.
The case, and in fact the entire structure may be made of suitable material such asplastic, transparent or opaque and the dispenser will provide an attractive and eilicient addition to the dining table whether in the restaurant or in the home.
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A dispenser for stacked articles comprising a box-like base with the upper end open and having openings extending across two opposite sides, a box-like cover positioned on the base and extending upward therefrom, a hollow slider having an upper horizontally disposed panel with vdownwardly positioned ilanges at the ends, the
length of the said slider` being greater than onehalf of the width of the base, a pair of spaced lower side bars positioned on the base andat opposite sides of the slider, a head connecting the outer ends of the side bars having a handle on the outer surface and closing an opening in one side of the base in the closed position, a transverse rod intermediate of the length of the side bars extending through the slider and with the ends thereof carried in said lower side bars, an upper pair of spaced side bars positioned on the lower side bars and'on opposite sides of the slider, a head connecting the outer ends of the upper side bars also having a handle on the outer surface and closing the opening in the base opposite tothe opening closed by the head of the lower side bars, and a transverse rod also extending through the slider carried by the upper side bars and intermediate of the length thereof.
2. In a dispenser for dispensing slices of bread from stacks thereof, the combination, which comprises, a box-like base supported on a pedestal with the upper end of the base open and with openings extending across two opposite sides, a box-like cover having a dividing vertically disposed partition intermediate of the width thereof removably mounted on the base and extending upward therefrom, a, hollow slider having an upper horizontally disposed bread holding panel with downwardly extending flanges at the ends, the length of said slider being greater than one half of the width of said base, a pair of spaced lower side bars positioned on the base and at opposite sides of the slider, a head connecting the outer ends of the side bars having a handle on the outer surface and closing the opening at one side of the base in the closed position, a transverse rod intermediate of the length of the side bars extending through the slider and with the ends thereof carried in the side bars, a pair of spaced upper side bars positioned on the lower side bars and on opposite sides of the slider, a head connecting theouter ends of the upper side bars having a handle on the outer surface closing the opening in the base opposite to that closed by the head of the lower side bars, in the closed position, and a transverse rod intermediate of the length of the upper side bars extending through the slider and with the ends thereof carried in the upper side bars. l
