Description

Dec. 3, 1946. A. F. TABORSKI v NECKTIE Filed June 29, 1944 /7///@d F Ta barf/h;
Patented Dec. 3, 1946 UNITED" STATES PATENT orn gr Alfred Frank Taborski, Buffalo, N. Y.
Application June 29, 1944, Serial No. 542,789
2 Claims. (01. 2-150) The present invention relates to new and use ful improvements in neckties insimulation or representation of the four-in-hand type, and has for its primary object to provide a preformed tie including separable knot and drape portions and by means of which various styles and colors of knot and drape portions may be interchangeably connected to each other.
An important object of the present invention is to provide novel means for detachably connecting the drape portion of the tie to the knot structure. v v
A still further object is to provide an article of this character of both simple and practical construction which is neat and attractive in appearance, relativelyv inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended. I
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully 2 I, the upper end of the drape body portion 9 and it is adapted forinsertion throughthe opening 8 into the chamber 1 of the rubber block 6, as shown to advantage in Figure 4 of the drawing. "The inclinedposition of the upper end 12 of the plate II will cause frictional gripping engagement between the upper end of the plate in the chamber I and in the walls of the opening 8 whereby to releasably secure and support the drape portion 9 in position at the lower end of the knot form 5.
It is here noted that the rubber sleeve l0 may be molded and thus formed directly on the plate member H or else attached thereto in any other hereinafter described and claimed, reference be-,
ing had to the accompanying drawing forming" part hereof, wherein like numeralsrefe'r to like parts throughout, and in which: I
Figure 1 is a front elevational View.
Figure2 is a view in elevation'of the knot form.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view therethrough.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially on a line 44 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the, attaching plate for the drape portion of. the tie. v
Referring now to the drawing in detail, where'- in for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a preformed knot structure of the necktie which may be made of-light weight metal, plastic or other suitable material and of hollow and somewhat flattened and of a general frusto-conical form, the form being open at each whereby it is self-holding in place dueto its reactive resistance. So, too, the upper portion of the drape member 9 of the tie may be formed a about. and made to adhere to the rubber sleeve III or to both the sleeve I0 and theplate II by and in the upper end portion of which is secured as shown at l2 and projects upwardly above any approved means or method, which, for example, may obviously be accomplished by stitching.
A wire hanger I3 is secured to the back of the knot form 5 in any suitable manner and adapted for attaching it to the collar button of a shirt. and the knot form 5 may be covered with suitable cloth or fabric l4 (see Figure 1) and have attached thereto a collar band l5 for attaching the necktie in position on the collar of the wearer.
By reason of drape portion 9 to the knot form 5, it will be apparent that various styles and colors of drape material may be interchangeably connected to the knot structure. a I V It is believed the details of construction and manner'of use and advantages of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having thus described the invention, what I I claim is:
1. A necktie comprising a flattened but generally frusto -conical knot form of hollow construction, a soft'rubber block secured in the knot form a and having a chamber therein and provided with a restricted bottom opening communicating tionally'engaged in said rubber sleeve and projecting from the upper end of the sleeve and said drape member, said plate having an angularly the detachable connectioniof the l formed laterally turned upper end portion adapted for insertion into the chamber of the block through expansion of the restricted bottom opening thereof for frictional engagement with the walls thereof by the reactive clamping action of the walls. 7
2. A necktie comprising a knot form, a resilient self-clamping holding member secured within the knot form and having a chamber therein with a restricted bottom opening, a drape member of 10
