Description
thereof in line w m, Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a vertical UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
J OHN MOSLER AND HERRMAN LADEWIG, OF PHILADELPHIA, PA.
REFRIGERATING BUTTER-BOX.
- SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 236,906, dated January 25, 1881.
Application filed March 24, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JOHN MosLER, a citizen of the United States, and HEBRMAN LADE- W'IG, a subject of Prussia, both residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Refrigerating Butter-Boxes, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a front view of the box embodying our invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section section in line y y, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding, parts in the several figures.
Our invention consists of a box inclosing a metallic frame having skeleton-shelvin g, on which are supported butter-drawers with open sides and an ice-chamber, whereby the butter placed in the drawers is subjected to cold air and kept in good and marketable condition.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a box, and B an inclosed frame, to which are secured uprights a and horizontal pieces a, or strips of metal connected or cast together, and forming a skeleton support or shelving for drawers 0 O and an ice-chamber, D. The sides of the drawers are cut away or set low, forming channels I), so that the air in the frame B, refrigerated by the ice in chamber D, has full access to the drawers, the skeleton support or (No model.)
shelving of the frame B also allowing free circulation of air throughout the frame.
Butter is placed in the drawers 0 and ice in the chamber D. The lid or door of the box A is closed, and the butter may then be sent to market or stowed away for use.
The cold air refrigerated by the icejn chamber D reaches every partijof f the same and passes through the channels I) of the drawers to the butter, which is thereby kept cold and hard and in good condition.
When the butter is required the lid or door of the box is opened and the drawers pulled out, the butter thus being accessible.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a refrigerator, a series of drawers, 0, havin g channeled sides b, substantially as set forth.
2. The box A, in combination with the removable lining-frame B, having upright and horizontal pieces a a connected to it, the ice-chamber D, and the drawers 0, having channeled or cut-away sides I), substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
JOHN MOSLER. HERRMAN LADEWIG.
