1 Claim.

My invention relates to razors, and has among its objects and advantages the provision of an improved holder for conventional safety razor blades.

In the embodiment of the invention selected for illustration, I make use of a strap handle Ill bent at I2 and [4 to provide an end portion I6 offset from the plane of the handle II] but lying in parallelism therewith. Upon the portion I6 is placed a conventional razor blade l8, with the portion provided with lugs 20 extending through the usual perforation in the blade to hold the latter against lateral displacement. Associated with the strap handle I is a second strap handle 22 bent in conformity with the handle I0 and having a widened end portion 24 overlying the blade I8. The portion 24 is clamped firmly upon the blade l0 through tightening of a nut 26 threadedly connected with a pin 28 attached to the bottom portion IS. The forward end of the portion 24 is inserted underneath lugs 30 on the bottom portion l6, and the portion 24 is provided with openings 32 through which the lugs 20 are extended.

A sleeve 34 is slidably mounted on the strap handles I0 and 22 for holding the two parts in firm face to face engagement to provide a sturdy handle structure for manipulating the razor.

Figure 1 illustrates the end portion 24 as being provided with a plurality of openings 36 arranged to provide clearance for lather. In Figure 4 the end portion I6 is considerably narrower than the top end portion 24 so as to expose the cutting edges 38 of the razor blade [8. While the top portion 24 is clamped firmly against the blade 18, edge margins of the portion 24 are cut away to provide clearances 40 between the cutting edge margins of the blade l8 and the bottom edge margins of the portion 24, which clearances have communication with the openings 36. Both portions l6 and 24 have slight curvatures when viewed according to Figure 4.

Figures 5 and 6 illustrate a modification in that the handle parts 42 and 44 are-of straight configuration. This form also eliminates the fastening nut 26 and the pin 28, with the sleeve 46 slidable to a position closely adjacent the razor blade 48 for holding the two parts in firm engagement with the blade. Lugs 50 are attached to the part 42 and project through the usual perforation in the razor blade, as well as into openings 52 in the top part 44. The two parts 42 and 44 are of equal width and are somewhat narrower than the razor blade 48.

Without further elaboration, the foregoing will so fully illustrate my invention, that others may, by applying current knowledge, readily adapt the same for use under various conditions of service.

I claim: A holder for safety razor blades having a perforation therein comprising an elongated guard member wider than the blade and provided with longitudinally spaced apertures and longitudinally elongated lather openings, a projection extending longitudinally from the outer end of the guard member and narrower than said guard, an elongated base member narrower than the blade, a pair of lugs formed on the guard adapted to be extended through the perforation in the blade and the aperture in the guard member, a pair of angular lugs formed at the outer end 5 of the base member adapted to slidably engage the guard member at each end of its outer protection, screw means for fixedly clamping said guard and base members against opposite faces of the blade, a pair of complementary elongated handle portions extending longitudinally inward from the respective guard and base members, said handle portions being offset intermediate their ends to extend parallel with the guard and base members, and a sleeve slidably mounted on the outer parts of said handl portions for releasably holding the same in face to face arrangement.
