UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SANITARY SHIELD FOR HAIR CLIP'PERS James Mike, Monongah, W. Va.
Application December 14, 1943, Serial No. 514,270
3 Claims.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in hair clippers used by barbers and more particularly to a sanitary shield adapted for placing under the clipper at its point of contact with a persons head andembodyng a removable paper shield which may be discarded after use.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is ecient and reliable in use, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the shield shown in position on a clipper. y
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the attaching plate for the shield.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the paper shield.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral 5 designates a clipper of conventional construction and of a type generally used for cutting a persons hair, and which includes a bottom plate 6 having a depression l in its edge.
A rigid metal plate 8 is formed with upwardly extending inturned lugs 9 at its side edges adapted for engagement in the depressions 1 to secure the plate under the bottom of the clippers. The front edge of the plate 8 is inclined upwardly in the plane of the inclined front edge of the bottom plate 6.
Cil
A rectangular shaped paper shield I0 such as tissue paper, is folded at a transverse medial line Il over the front edge of the plate 8 to provide a top section I2 which -is clamped between the plates 6 and 8 and a bottom section 3 which underlies the plate 8.
In using the clipper with the shield thereon, the bottom section l2 protects the persons head from direct contact with the clipper and may be removed and discarded by sliding the plate 8 forwardly to disengage the lugs 9 from the depressions 1 and a fresh paper shield placed in position on the plate.
It is believed 'that the details of construction and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A sanitary shield for hair clippers comprising a paper member, and an attaching plate for the member adapted for removably securing the member to the bottom of the clipper.
2. A sanitary shield for hair clippers comprising a paper strip, an attaching plate, and means for removably securing the plate to the bottom of the clipper with a portion of the paper strip held by the plate and another portion of the paper strip covering the bottom surface of the plate.
3. Ar sanitary shield for hair clippers comprising an attaching plate, lugs carried by the plate adapted for removably attaching the plate to the bottom of the clipper, and a foldable paper strip covering the plate.
