coins, keys or the like. f

An important object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character wherein one side ofthe bill holding unit is detachably connected with the adjacent side of the partition.

A further object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character, Wherein the open edge of the bill holding unit is diS- posed inwardly of and adjacent to the folding line of the folder and is covered thereby.

A further object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character Wherein the side of the bill holding unit detachably connected with the partition is held against lateral movement in one direction by the folded portion of the folder.

A further object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character including a bill holding unit and a pocket unit which are foldable over each other.

A further object of the invention is to provide key receiving pockets carried by the partition and correlated with the pocket unit so that the keys cannot become displaced from the -key receiving pockets when the bill'holding unit and pocket unit are in the overlapping closed position.

A further object of the invention is to provide a'ffolder of the above mentioned character free from stitches visible from the exterior. Y

A further object of the invention is to provide rounded corners for the folder.

A further object of the invention is to provide a pocket having the maximum width and length for the size of the folder.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration are shown preferred embodiments of my invention, the numeral 20 designates a main blank which may be formed of leather, artificial leather or any other suitable flexible material. This blank includes a side `2| and a side 22 foldable over the side 2| `upon a transverse folding line 23. The sides 2| and 22 are included in the bill holding unit. The blank 2U includes a side 24 foldable overA the side 2| upon .a longitudinal line 25. The side 24 has a stop shoulder 26 extending between the folding line 23 and the folding The blank 2l further comprises a side 23 foldable upon a transverse line29 upon the inner face of the side 24. After the side 28 is folded upon the side 24 the blank 20 is preferably inverted from the position of Figure 1, andthe sides 28 and 24 are stitched together by a line of stitching 30, Figure 5, extending from a point 3l to a point 32 and continues to a point 33. There is a separate line of Astitching 34 connecting the sides 28 and 2li. These lines of stitching forni outer transverse key receiving pockets 35, 36 and 3l' and inner transverse key receiving pockets 38. The assembled and connected sides 24 and 28 form a partition unit foldable over the side 2| of the bill receiving unit and having the bill folding edge 2l. When the partition unit is folded overthe side 2l the outer folded edge of the side 2l at the line 25 covers the open ends of the inner key receiving pockets 38 while the open vends of the` outer key receiving pockets 35,36

and 31 are covered by a pocket unit, to be described.

The side 24 of the partition is provided at its corner adjacent to the line 25 and remote from the line 23 with a diagonal slit 39, terminating at points 49 and 4l, the termination at point 4l providing a shoulder 42. The side 22 of the bill receiving unit is provided upon its longitudinal outer edge next to the slit 39 with a notch 43, forming a shoulder 44 and tongue 44. When the partition unit is folded upon the longitudinal line 25 over the side 2l of the bill receiving unit, the side 22 is then folded upon its transverse now positioned upon the side 46, and the short transverse tongues 65 are disposed adjacent to and inwardly of the transverse tongues 48, Figure 2. These two sets of tongues 65 and 48 are now folded inwardly over the edges of the side 63, Figure 3. The tongues 62 are also folded inwardly over the side 58 and are tucked under the free ends 66 of the tongue 59. The side 58 is next folded over the side 63 upon the folding line 64 andthe free ends 66 of the tongue 59 are inserted beneath the ends ofthe tongues 48. It is preferred that the side 46 be now swung upon the transverse line 49 to the open position "with respect to the assembled sides 63 and 58,

line 23 over the partition unit and the tongue 44 of the side 22 is inserted into the slit 39 and the shoulder 44 engages behind the shoulder 42. The

side 22 is therefore locked to the partition against longitudinal movement in a direction from the' free end of the side 22. The slit 39 forms a pocket, the outer corner wall or web of which is the portion 45 of the side 24. This pocket has the shoulder 42.

The blank 20 includes aside 46, integral with theside 2l and foldable over the same upon a longitudinal line 41. This side 46 is included in a' pocket unit. The side 46 is provided at its ends with transverse tongues 48 foldable upon lines 49 upon the inner face of the side 46. At their inner ends 56 the tongues 48 terminate 'short of the longitudinal folding line 41. The side 46 is provided at its outer longitudinal edge with a longitudinal tongue 5l foldable inwardly over the side 46 upon a longitudinal folding line 52. The tongue 5I ispreferably foreshortened at its ends, as shown at 53, whereby this tongue is disposed inwardly of the transverse tongues 48 and does not project under the same.

As more clearly shown in Figure 2a, the numeral 54 designates corner triangular aps, disposed at the outer corners of the side 46 and separated from the transverse tongues 48 .by slits 55. These corner tongues 54 are foldable inwardly upon diagonal folding lines 56 and when folded inwardly the flaps 54 assume diagonal positions and produce a neat rounded rcorner effect.

` The numeral 51 designates a blank included in the pocket'unit. This blank 51 includes a side 58 .provided at one longitudinal edge with a tongue 59, having an extension 66 to prevent cards-pictures or the like from being displaced. The side 58 has a window 6I. The side 58 is further provided at its ends with transverse tongues 62, foldable inwardly upon the side 58. The blank 51 comprises a side 63 which is carried by the side 58 which is foldable over the side 63 upon a longitudinal line 64. The side 63 is provided at its ends with short transverse tongues 65 extending from points adjacent to the folding line 64 and foldable upon lines 65'. The side 63 also has notches 66 forming free corners 61a. The window 6I is lcovered by a transparent side or sheet 66, formed of Celluloid or the like and this sheet 66 is disposed upon the inner face of the side 58. When the sheet 66 is placed upon the inner face of the side 58 the sheet 66 and side 58 are secured together by a line of stitching 61, passing about the marginal edge of the window. The tongue 59 is also folded inwardly over the sheet 66 and the tongue 59, sheet 66 and side 58 are stitched together by a longitudinal line of stitching 68, terminating short of the ends 'of the tongue 59, as lshown at 56', providing free ends 66.

With the parts thus assembled, the side 63 is so that the side 63, tongue 48, sheet 66 and side 58 are stitched together by a transverse line of stitching 61. The side 46 is then folded transversely over the assembled sides 63 and 58, see B, Figure 2b, and the corresponding elements at the opposite end of the side 63 are stitched together by a line of stitching 68 by means of a tubular work sewing machine. If desired, both lines of stitching 61 and 68 may be effected by a tubular work sewing machine. The flaps 54 are now folded inwardly over and upon the side 46 and are arranged beneath the side 63 and tongues 48, the folding occurring on the diagonal lines 56 and producing rounded corners. The flaps 54 may be passed beneath the side 63 since the lines of stitching 61' and 68 terminate at the notches 66' and the corners 61b are foldable. The tongue 5l is now folded inwardly upon the line 52 upon the side 63 and is .cemented to the side 63. The side 63 forms with the side 46 an outer pocket 63a for receiving cards, photographs or the like and the tongue 5| closes the outer edge of the outer pocket having its inner edge open. This pocket 63a has maximum length and width of thefolder.` The side 58 forms with the side 63 an inner'pocket 64a for receiving cards, photographs or the like and this inner pocket has its inner edge closed and its outer edge open. This pocket 58has a maximum width. The tongue 59 servesjas4 a stop to prevent accidental displacement of the contents of the inner pocket.

Y The operationof the folder is as follows:

The partition unit and the pocket unit may be moved to the opened position, and the bills placed upon Vthe sides 2l and 22 of the bill holding unit. The partition unit is next folded over the bills, Figure 9. The side 22 is now folded transversely over the side 2| andthe bills are folded about the folding edge 21 of the partition. The tongue 4,4 of theside 22 and the corners of the bills are now passed into the slit 30, Figure 9, and the shoulder 44 engages behind the shoulder 42. The pocket unit is now folded upon the longitudinal line 41 over the bill receiving unit and the entire shoulder is closed, Figure 11. It is thus apparent that when the folder is closed the intermediate folded portion of the folder adjacent to the line 41 covers the open inner edge of the bill holding unit and also the open ends of the key receiving pockets 35, 36 andV 31. The folded portion adjacent to the line 41 also holds the side 22 against lateral displacement from the slit 39 so that the shoulder 44 will not disengage the shoulder 42. To remove the bills, the pocket unit and bill receiving unit are first shifted to the open position and the bills maybe removed-from the bill holding unit without disconnecting the shoulder 44 from the shoulder 42 by stripping the bills from vwithin the bill holding unit. If desired, the side 22 may be moved to the open position when removing the bills. Access can be readily had to accepta the card or photograph receiving pocketsand to the key receiving pockets to removc'or insert the articles therein. The extension 60 normally-engages over the cards or photographs held within its pocket and is properly manipulated when inserting or removing cards from within the pocket;

In Figure 13 I have shown a slight modification of the invention. Instead of forming the side-24 integral lwith the side 2 l in Figure 14,' the side 24 is formed separated from the side2l. The'side 2l is provided adjacent to its folding line 25 with a longitudinal extension 24', disposed upon the inner face of the side 24 and secured thereto by any suitable means, as by stitching 25 or by cement, or both. It may be advantageous to form the elements 24 and 2| separate, forI economy in cutting the material. All other parts of the folder are made identical with that shownl and described in connection with therst form of the invention.

The present application is a continuation in part of my pending application for bill folder, Serial No. 378,450, filed February 11, 1941. f

It is to be understood that the forms of my invention herein shown and described are to be taken as preferred examples of the' same, and that various changes in shape, size and arrangements of parts may beresorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

l. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and rsecond sides connected adjacent to their ends and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried bythe rst side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the first and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge arranged near the'transverse folding line, said partition having sets of transverse key receiving pockets, one set of transverse key receiving pockets having open ends arranged next to the said longitudinal edge of the partition to be covered by such folded edge and the other set of transverse key receiving pockets having open ends arranged next to the opposite longitudinal edge of the partition, and a side connected with the rst side adjacent to the opposite longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged over the folded second side and partition, the folded last named side serving to cover the open ends of the last named set of key receiving pockets.

2. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including lirst and second sides of substantially the same length and connected adjacent to their ends and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the nrst side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the i-lrst and second sides whenV they are closed, said partition being of substantially the same length as the rst and second sides, said partition having a transverse folding edge arranged near the transverse folding line, said partition being provided adjacent to its corner remote from the transverse folding edge vrand adjacent to its longitudinal folding line with la corner Web having a free end, the web 'being adapted to receive beneath it the corner of the second named side and the corners of bills folded about the partition, and `aside connected. with the first named side adjacent `to its opposite longitudinal edge and foldable upon a longitudinal line over the closed second-side and partition.

3; A' bill folder `comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and second sides which are of substantially the same length and are connected at their meeting `ends and foldable upon a transversefline adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an `opposedclosed position, said sides having free-ends, a partition carried vby the first side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and-foldable about a longitudinal line to be' arranged between the rst and second sides'when they are closed, said partition being of substantially the samelength as the first and second sides, and having a transverse `folding edge disposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first'and second sides,said partition being provided "with a diagonal:openingarranged adjacent to the outer 'corner of said partition next to the free end of the firstside and the longitudinalffolding line between-the partition and the first side, the diagonal opening forming a corner web, the arrangement being such that the corner of the "free end of the second side next to the longitudinalV folding line between the rst and second sides is adapted for insertion within the diagonal opening and beneath the corner web and the corners of biilsfolded about the partition are also adapted to be inserted through the diagonal opening beneath the corner web,` and a side carried by the first kside adjacent tothe opposite longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line over the-folded second side and partition. i

4. A bill folder lcomprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and second sides which are of substantially the same llength and are connected at their meeting ends and foldable upon a-transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to'assume an opposed closed position, said sides having free ends, a partition car'- ried by the first side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the rst and second sides when they are closed, said partition being of substantially the same length as the first and second sides andv having a transverse folding edge disposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, said partition being provided with an elongated diagonal opening arranged adjacent to the outer corner of said partition and having one end terminating near the outer free end ofthe partition and its opposite end terminating near and short ofthe longitudinal folding line between the partition and rst side to form a shoulder, said opening forming a corner web, the second side being provided at its longitudinal edge next to the longitudinal folding line between the partition and rst side with anotch forming a shoulder, the arrangement be ing such that the outer corner of the second side next to said longitudinal folding line is adapted for insertion within said diagonal opening and beneath the corner web and the shoulder of the second side brought into engagement with the shoulder of ther partition to prevent the outward longitudinal movement of the `folded second side with relation to the` partition and the corners of the bills folded about the partition Aare also adapted to be inserted through the `diagonal opening andbeneath the corner web, and a side carriedby the first side adjacent to the opposite longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line over the second folded side and partiti-on and thereby holding the free end` of the folded second side against lateral movement in one direction with relation to the partition so that the corner of the second side inserted within the diagonal opening Will remain within such diagonal opening.

5. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including a first side and a second side which are of substantially the same length and have their meeting ends connected and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, said sides having free ends, a third side carried by the longitudinal edge of the first side and foldable upon a longitudinal line to be arranged between the folded first and second sides, the third side having a diagonal slit at its corner next to said longitudinal folding line, one end of the diagonal slit terminating adjacent to the outer end of the third side and its opposite end terminating adjacent to the longitudinal folding line, a fourth side arranged in superposed relation upon the third side, a line or lines of stitching passing through the third and fourth sides and forming sets of transverse separate key receiving pockets having closed sides, one set of key receiving pockets having closed ends adjacent to the open ends of the other set of key receiving pockets, one corner of the second side being adapted for insertion within the diagonal slit, the third and fourth sides forming a partition arranged between the first and second sides for having bills foldable about the same, the corners of the bills being adapted to be inserted through said diagonal slit, and a fifth side carried by the first side and foldable upon a longitudinal line over the same.

6. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and second sides connected at their meeting ends and foldable upon a transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an opposed closed position, said sides being of substantially the same length, a partition carried by the first side ad jacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the first and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge disposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, said partition being provided with transverse key receiving pockets having open ends, the open ends being arranged next to the longitudinal folding line of the partition, means for detachably connecting the second side With the partition, and a side carried by the rst side adjacent to the opposite longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line over the folded second side and partition.

7. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and second sides of substantially the same length and connected at their meeting ends and foldable upon a transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an opposed closed position, a partition v carried by the rst side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the first and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge disposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, said partition being provided with transverse key receiving pockets having open ends, the open ends being arranged next to the opposite longitudinal edge of the first side, means for detachably connecting the second side with the partition, *saidA means being operated by a relative lateral movement of the second side with relation to the partition, and a side carried by the first side adjacent to the said opposite longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line over lthe folded second side and partition, the last named side serving to cover the open ends of the key receiving pockets and to hold the second side against lateral movement which would release the connecting means.

8. A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said bill receiving unit including first and second sides which are of substantially the same length and are connected at their meeting ends and foldable upon a transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the first side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the rst and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge Adisposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, means for detachably connecting the second side with the partition when the second side is folded over the partition, and a side carried by the opposite longitudinal edge of the first side and foldable upon a longitudinal line over the folded second side to cover the connecting means.

A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit, said unit including first and second sides which are of substantially the same length and are connected at their meeting ends and foldable upon a transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the rst side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the rst and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge disposed adjacent to the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, means forming a pocket upon the partition, means for detachably connecting the second side and partition when the second side is folded over the partition, a side carried by the first side at its opposite longitudinal edge and foldable over the second folded side, and means to form a pocket upon the last named side.

A bill folder comprising a bill receiving unit including rstrand second sides which are of substantially the same length and are connected at their meeting ends and are foldable upon a transverse line adjacent to their meeting ends to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the first side adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the first and second sides when they are closed, said partition having a transverse folding edge adjacent to the transverse folding line of the rst and second sides, said partition having means providing a shoulderl means forming a shoulder upon the second side, said shoulders being brought into engagement by a lateral movement of the second side and thereby holding the second side against longitudinal movement in one direction, and a side carried by the first side at its opposite longitudinal edge and foldable upon a longitudinal line over the folded second side, the last named folded side holding the second folded side against lateral movement in a direction from the shoulder of the partition,i
