2 Claims. ('01. 2817) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in means for removing tacking from cloth.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a machine for removing tacking from wet cloth in woolen mills as the cloth passes over the conventional extractor.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of the character stated which is of simple and inexpensive construction.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the tacking tread in a piece of cloth.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the machine comprises upwardly converging end leg members 5, 5, each provided with a telescopic tubular section 6 at its lower end which can be secured in proper relation to the corresponding leg by a set screw 1. Casters 8 are provided at the lower ends of the tubular section 6.
Horizontal bars 9, 9 bridge corresponding legs 5, 5 extending longitudinally of the machine. Short arm pieces ID are interposed between the upper ends of the legs 5, 5 and project inwardly.
Bowed spring members II, II are provided at each end of the machine, the upper ends thereof being secured by suitable means I2 to the short arms III, while the lower ends are secured by suitable means l3 to the end portions of the longitudinal bars 9.
Between the upper portions of the legs 5, 5 at each end of the machine is a bridge member [4 carrying a bearing l 5 and through these bearings is disposed the end portions of a horizontal shaft I6, which has radially disposed spokes I'I adjacent one end thereof. Overlapping the other ends of these spokes I! are slats [8 which extend to connect directly to the shaft IS in some suitable manner, as suggested in Figure 1, the spoke l1 and slats l8 defining a reel 19 of substantially conical shape. The outer surfaces of the slats 18 are covered with some suitable roughened material a to prevent slipping of the tacking thread.
Figure 4 shows a piece of cloth B and the usual tacking thread C which is to be removed by the operation of the present machine, as it passes from a roll D over a conventional extractor which will be located under the present invention.
A frame-like structure 20 is provided on one side of the legs 5, 5 and into which one end of the shaft I6 projects. This end portion of the shaft l6 has a multiple pulley wheel 2| suitably secured to a pin 22 which, in turn, is suitably secured to the shaft It.
On the same legs 5, 5 is mounted an electric motor 23 having an armature shaft 24 driving a multiple plate pulley 25. A drive belt 26 is trained over the pulleys 2|, 25 and, of course, some type of regulator should be provided for regulating the speed of the motor 23, to more or less synchronize with the travel of the cloth from the rollD.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A detacking machine comprising a framelike structure, a shaft supported by the framelike structure and provided with drive means at one end thereof, a tacking removal reel on the shaft, said reel consisting of a plurality of slats extending outwardly from an intermediate point of the shaft in oblique relation to the shaft and in the same direction, and guards at the ends of the shaft for preventing overwinding of removed tacking.
2. A detacking machine comprising a framelike structure, a shaft supported by the framelike structure and provided with drive means at one end thereof, a tacking removal reel on the shaft, said reel consisting of a plurality of slats extending outwardly from an intermediate point of the shaft in oblique relation to the shaft and in the same direction, and guards at the ends of the shaft for preventing overwinding of removed tacking, said guards consisting of a pair of bowed members secured at their ends to the frame and I JOSEPH HENRI ROY.
