GLOVE HOLDER Original Filed Feb. 3, 1940 Gerlrude flloonpamd Israel Bloom,
INVENTORS:
ATTORNEY.
Patented Sept. 15, 1 942 GLOVE HOLDER Gertrude Bloom and Israel Bloom, New York, N. Y.
Original application February 3, 1940, Serial No.
317,042, now Patent No. 2,260,700, dated October 28, 1941. Divided and this application September 13, 1941, Serial No. 410,711
2 Claims.
The invention here disclosed relates to holders or carriers for ladies gloves and is a division of patent application Ser. No. 317,042 filed Feb. 3, 1940, Patent No. 2,260,700, Oct. 28, 1941.
Special objects of the invention are to provide a device which can be readily attached to a ladys handbag or the like, and which when so mounted, will constitute a practical, convenient and easily operated means for holding and carrying a pair of gloves.
A further special object is to provide a holder of this character, which can be quickly and easily opened up fully to receive the gloves and then be closed and which in the closed relation, will automatically grip the gloves as firmly as need be to hold them against loss.
Other desirable objects and the novel features of the invention are hereinafter set forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and broadly covered in the claims.
In the drawing, there is shown one practical commercial embodiment of the invention. Structure however, may be modified and changed as regards this particular illustration, all within the true scope of the invention as hereinafter defined and claimed.
Fig. 1 is a perspective View illustrating somewhat diagrammatically the invention as applied to and in use with a ladys handbag.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged broken detail view of the carrier in the closed glove supporting condition.
Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view showing the slipnoose of the holder opened up to receive the gloves.
As shown more fully in Fig. 1, the holder consists of a length of flexible chain 5, or other flexible member, adapted to be formed into a slipnoose 6, to confine a pair of glooves, such as represented at 1, provided at one end with some means, such as the spring ring indicated at 8, by which it may be attached to and suspended from a suitable support, such as the handle hasp 9, of a ladys handbag I0.
The noose is formed in the illustration, by a ring II, on the opposite or free end of the chain or other flexible member, slidingly engaged over the upper suspended portion of the chain.
To facilitate handling of this sliding loop, a ball handle I2 is shown linked to the loop at I3.
To enable instant opening of the slipnoose out to its fullest extent, for ease in encircling the gloves, the lower portion of the chain forming the slipnoose is shown as broken at I4, and the ends of chain at the break as carrying complemental snap fastener elements I5, I6.
Fig. 3 shows how with this construction, the slipnoose can be fully opened up for easy engagement about the gloves, by simply unsnapping the fastener elements I5, I6, and the ends then be brought together and snapped closed. The weight of the gloves then riding in the slipnoose will have the effect of sliding the. loop II down over the suspended portion of the flexible member, thus to automatically hold the gloves gripped as firmly as may be required, to prevent escape from the noose.
The device is readily attached to the handbag or other support and forms a convenient and attractive accessory. The ball Il may be of a character to form an ornament as well as a handle for operating the slide and a weight for closing the slide down over the encircled gloves.
The end portions of the chain to which the fastener elements are attached, serve as leverage handles for assisting in separating or engaging the companion fastener elements. While easy to engage or separate, the fastener elements. form a secure connection between the ends of the chain and one which will not acoidently unfasten, since as shown in Fig. 2, the load on the engaged fastener elements is more or less transversely across the same, rather than in the direction of separation of the elements.
What is claimed is:
1. A device for automatically gripping and holding a pair of gloves suspended from a ladys handbag or other support and comprising a selfclosing suspended slipnoose of a size to embrace a pair of gloves and made up of a flexible member having a catch at one end for attachment to and suspending the same from the supporting obj ct and having the opposite end doubled upward over the suspended portion, a loop sliding freely over said suspended portion and with which said upwardly doubled end is connected, the glove encircling noose below said sliding loop being disconnectible at a point to enable placement of a pair of gloves within said opened noose and being readily connectible to close the noose about the thus placed gloves and thereby to render the noose automatically self-closing under the weight of the suspendedv encircled gloves, said disconnectible and readily connectible portion of said self-closing slip noose being located at an intermediate point in the length of the slip noose and including separated portions of the flexible member equipped with cooperative snap fastener elements.
2. A glove holder of the character disclosed, comprising a catch adapted to be closed about a separable snap fastener incorporated therein and attached to portions meeting to form the glove-encircling loop and thereby enabling said suspended loop to be readily opened up and then 5 closed about a pair of gloves.
