1 Claim. (01. 15-131) The present invention relates to floor-polishing apparatus and has essentially for its object to provid an improved apparatus of this kind comprising means for distributing over the floor, or other surface, a wax or like polishing material, and means for carrying out the polishing operation proper, the wax or other polishing material supply being contained within a container simultaneously forming the handle of the apparatus and provided with a spraying nozzle or the like.

The polishing means comprises a unit formed of a brush and a polishing cloth or the like, which elements may be used alternately, or successively for polishing the floor or other surface. The brush, as well as the cloth or the like are secured and mounted so as to be interchangeable after having become worn out by use, the connection between these parts being effected by means of a metal plate to which are secured the brush as well as means supporting the cloth.

A salient feature of the present invention resides in that the handle of the device is separable and constitutes a means for applying the wax, or other polishing material, to the surface to be polished.

A further feature of the invention lies in the fact that the brush is provided with a further operative face constituted by a cloth, or the like, both operative faces being inter-exchangeable.

In order that the present invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into practice, one sheet of drawings is appended illustrating one preferred form of embodiment thereof. In this drawing:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the complete apparatus according to the invention, mounted and ready for use.

Fig. 2a is a perspective showing with parts cut away of the brush removed from its seat, clearly illustrating its construction, and the central base plate.

Fig. 2b is a further perspective view of the base v of T-shape, to which is secured a terial receiving handle, showing the spray device and valve thereof.

Fig. 5 illustrates the said valve in side view.

Referring to these figures, wherein like or corresponding parts are denoted by similar characters of reference, the handle of the apparatus is formed of a tubular member I provided with a piston 2 which at its lower end is screw-threaded and may be secured in the position shown whenever nccessary. The screwed end is indicated at 3.

At the lower end of the tubular member I the same is formed with screw threads 4 with the aid of which the tubular member is secured to, or screwed into the cylindrical boss 5 of the connecting stirrup 5. The lower end of the tubular member l is provided with aftube I! which extends through a perforation or channel 1 formed in the material of the stirrup 5.

The connecting stirrup 5 at the ends of its legs is formed with holes through which project trunnions 9, the parts being kept together in position by means of cotter keys to.

To one side of the base member 8, which is of rectangular outline, is secured a plate member I, polishing cloth, or the like. At the other face of said base member-8 there is secured a brush I2 having a shape similar to that of the mounting plate ll. Both elements are secured to the base member in the following manner:

' respectively, are formed with a cut portion in the member of the brush and of the connecting stirrup or U-shaped member which connects the base to the handle, part of which is seen in the drawing.

Fig. 2c is another perspective view of the other separable face of the base to which is secured the polishing cloth, or the like.

Within the nozzle 2| there is arranged a cylindrical distributing device 22 formed with helically projecting cuts 23 facilitating emission of the spray. A stem 25 integral with the said device 22 facilitates withdrawal of the latter when necessary.

The-operation of the apparatus according to the invention is as follows:

What I claim is: In a device for polishing floors and other surfaces, a handle having a hollow cylindrical portion for receiving a supply of polishing liquid, a

tube extending from the lower end of said cylindrical portion, a piston forming a handle having a threaded end portion for connection with said cylindrical portion and adapted upon disconnection therefrom to be moved within the cylindrical portion for forcing liquid through said tube, and movable means for closing said tube.
