Description
M. BLANC April 21, 1942.
GLOVE Filed Feb. 20, 1941.-
Patented Apr. 21, 1942 green? GLOVE Marinette Blanc, New York, N. Y., assignor to Picardy Mills, Inc., Brooklyn, N. Y., a corporation of New York Application February 20, 1941,- Serial No. 379,788
10 Claims.
My invention relates to gloves and its novelty consists in the adaptation and combination of parts as will be more fully hereinafter pointed out.
There have been many women who wished to purchase long gloves for daily use which came well up on the arms but have felt that they could not alord them as they were not adapted to use With most of their costumes.
My invention overcomes this great objection to the daily use of the long glove and makes it practicable for the first time with any and all costumes by making the length adjustable in a practical and attractive manner.
Referring to the drawing- Figure 1 is a top plan view of the front of my right hand glove in the full extended position;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the front of my left hand glove With the glove in the shortened and shirred position; and
Figure 3 is a longitudinal cross section on the line 3 3 of Figure 1.
In the drawing of my glove which is stitched together in the usual way at I8, 4 is the hand portion of my glove and 5 and 5a are the arm portions. On the underside of the arm portions 5 and 5?- designated as 6 and Sa respectively are stitched at 1 pockets 8 and 8a respectively forming decorative members 9 on the outer faces 5 and 5.
In the pocket 8 are mounted two draw strings IU and II which are stitched at one end to the base of said pocket at I2 and pass out through an opening I3 in the arm portion 5 at their opposite ends and said strings IO and II terminate in stitched coils I4 and I5 which serve as grips for pulling as well as decoratively. ,On the underside of 5a is similarly stitched pocket 8a and draw strings Ilia and I Ia are mounted therein and are stitched at one end to the base of said pocket at I2a and pass through the Opening I'ta at the opposite end and terminate in stitched coils Ne and I5fl.
The Operation of my glove is very simple and when it is desired to shorten the front section of my glove so that it will not go up onto the arm the draw strings II] and II can be pulled .by taking hold of the stitched coils M and I5 and pulling thereon which will pull the arm portion 5 of the glove from the base I2 so as to draw the upper arm portion 5 toward the hand portion 4 efiecting a shirring of the arm portion 5 as shown in Fig. 2 and substantially shortening the arm portion 5 by means of the shirring IB shown in Fig. 2. i
The back section of 5 may be shortened and shirred in a similar manner by pulling on draw strings IIIa and Ila effecting the pull at IZa and the draw strings [Da and IIa may be fastened together in the same manner as shown at I'I lin Fig.`2 so thatcthe glove will be secured in the shortened position and the decorative shirring IS maintained in position.
It will be noted that I9 is merely decorative stitching.
It will be apparent that this shortening may be done and then knots tied either before or after the gloves are put on by the wearer, but that in order to secure perfect uniformity and the best result in appearance both the front and the back sections 5 and 5fl' should both be shortened in each glove.
Variations may be made in the Structure as shown and described without departing from the spirit and intent of my invention.
It will be understood that my gloves may be made of leather, fabric, a combination of these two or of any other material adapted for making gloves and may bemade in all colors available in such materials.
I claim:
1. In an arm length glove, longitudinally adjustable means carried by said arm portion for shortening the arm portion of said glove and fastening the same in said shortened position.
2. In a glove means for shortening the arm portion of said glove comprising a draw stringH pocketed in the back arm portion one end of which draw string is secured to the baseof said pocket near the upper arm end and the other end of said draw string being free at the wrist portion of said glove.
3. In a glove means for shortening the arm portion of said glove comprising a pair of draw strings pocketed in both the back arm portion and the front arm portion, one end of both pairs of which draw strings are Secured at the base of each of said pockets near the upper arm end and the other ends of said pairs of draw strings being free at the wrist portion of said glove.
4. In an arm length glove, longitudinally adjustable means carried by said arm portion for shirring the arm portion of said glove and means for fastening the same in said shirred position.
5. In a glove means for shirring the arm portion of said glove comprising a pair of draw strings pocketed in the front arm portion, one end of which pair of draw strings are Secured to the base of said pocket near the upper arm end and the other pair of ends being free at the wrist portion of said glove.
6. In a glove means for shirring the arm portion of said glove comprising a draw string pocketed in the back arm portion one end of which draw string is Secured to the base of said pocket near the upper arm end and the other end of said draw string being free at the Wrist portion of said glove.
7. In a glove means for shirring the arm portion of said glove comprising a pair of draw strings pocketed in both the back arm portion and the front arm portion, one end of both pairs of which draw strings are Secured at the base of each of said pockets near the upper'arm end and the other ends of said pairs of draw strings being free at the Wrist portion of said glove.
8. In a glove having an arm portion a pair of draw strings pocketed in the front arm portion and a second pair of draw strings pocketed in the back arm portion, one end of both of said pairs of draw strings being Secured to the base of said pockets near the upper arm end and both of the other pairs of ends being free at the wrist portion of said glove so that each of said pairs of draw string free ends may be fastened together.
9. In a glove having an arm portion a pair of draw strings pocketed in the front arm portion and a second pair of draw strings pocketed in the back arm. portion, one end of both of said pairs of draw strings being secured to the base of said pockets near the upper arm end and both of the other pairs of ends being free at the wrist portion of said glove so that each of said pairs of draw string free ends may be drawn and fastened together to effect a shirring and shortening of the arm portion.
10. In a glove, a single adjustable means for shortening and shirring the arm portion of said glove and fastening the. same in said shortened and shirred position comprising a draw string carried by the arm portion one end of which draw string is Secured to the upper arm end of the glove and the other end of said draw string being free at the wrist portion of said glove.
