1 Claim.

This invention relates to tables and it has particular reference to a table which may be readily assembled and disassembled without the use of nails, screws, or angular brace members.

5 The principal object of the invention is to provide a table having a high degree of rigidity, and so designed that the parts may be readily cut or sawed from a single piece of material, such as plywood, with a minimum of waste.

Another object is to provide a table having but few parts and which may be collapsed into a minimum space for shipment or storage.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a table which is ornamental in design and which may be produced at a low cost insofar as labor and material is concerned.

With the foregoing objects as paramount, the invention has particular reference to its salient features of construction and arrangement of parts which will become manifest as the description proceeds, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a table constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 2 is a plan view of the pattern for the type table shown in Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary View in perspective of one of the base members and showing the notch therein.

'` Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 3 showing the companion base member, and f Figure 5 is a fragmentary view in vertical section showing the means for locking the table top to the leg portions.

Continuing with a more detailed description of the drawing, reference is primarily made to Figure 2 in which is shown a pattern of the table embodying the invention.

A strip of material of greater length than width o is out midway between its ends to remove a portion 50 of any desired shape but preferably circular, as shown. By thus removing the central portion 50, the support for the latter as the table top is provided through the medium of members 5 5I and 52.

The members 5l and 52 are provided with slots 53 and 54, the slot 53 extending downwardly toward the cuts 55 and 56 previously made in removing the top portion 5l While the slot 54 ex- 50 tends from this cut upwardly, when the two members 5I and 52 are right side up.

When the two members are associated in the manner shown in Figure 3, the slots 53 and 54 are correspondingly engaged so that the body of member 5I will overlie that of member 52 in interlocking relationship. Manifestly, the constructionas shown and described is capable of some modification and such 30 modification. as may be construed to fall within the scope and meaning of the claim is also considered to be within the Spirit and intent of the invention.

What is claimed is:

A table construction comprising a blank of greater length than width having a circular cutout midway between the ends thereof and shortV of its sides to provide a circular table top portion, supporting means defined by transverse severance of said blank diametrically across the circular opening therein produced by the removal of said top portion, said supporting means comprising two identical members each having opposed ends defined by said circular opening providing legs and further having slots for relative interlocking relationship to hold said members in assembled position to receive said circular top portion and means carried by said members receivable in slots in said top portion to retain the latter against 5o rotation.
