This invention relates to a duplex garment, which serves the combination of a robe, pajamas, waist-bodice, dress and coat ensemble, and may be created in any design of a coat or dress garment.

One of the main features of the invention, is the inner panel-like element comprising an upper front waist-bodice section terminating into lower trousers or divided skirt and leg sections, having cooperating fastening means along the side edges of the divided skirt and leg sections and along the inner surface of the outer garmentadapting them to be separably connected together, means to open and close the waist-bodice section, and fastening means on the waistline of the outer garment adapting the revers flaps. and lapels to be secured in their open and closed positions.

Another salient feature of the invention, is the alternative and much preferred form of a robe-pajama combination in which the revers fiapsand lapels are eliminated thereby providing a front zipper arrangement, or as otherwise desired, lengthwise of the garment, which may be opened to the full length lengthwise, or may be opened only to the waistline, so the wearer will have full freedom of the legs in walking, sitting or in the lounging positions, the inner leg sections being secured to the front and rear portions of the outer garment covering the inside of the legs of the wearer, the leg sections being seamed together at the crotch portion of the semi-trouser-like ensemble.

Another salient feature of the invention, is

V the effect produced in the combination of a robepajamas, waist-bodice, dress and coat, all in one integral garment. It is to be understood that thisintegral ensemble is adaptable to any suitable material, design and construction, as may be desired. The convenience of a combined house-coat garment with an inner paneldike element, continuing in a straight open front streamline with divided skirt and leg sections, providing a front-like dress when the front left and right flap sections are open, is evidently seen, and may be embodied in variable model designs, such as would be fitting to needs of the trade.

Another important feature of the invention is the detachable means for the divided skirt and leg sections if it is so desired, whereby it may be laundered separately- Other features of the invention will appear as the description proceeds in the following specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure l is a front view in elevation of my duplex house-coat and dress.

Figure 2 is. a rear view of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 1, except the upper and lower lapels or flaps of the duplex garment are turned back to disclose the inner panel-like element.

Figure 3a is an alternative seaming operation of the leg openings.

Figure 3b a fragmentary view similar to Figure 3a, and shows detachable means, such as buttons. for example, for attaching and removing the inner panel-like element if so desired.

Figure 4 is a sectional View taken on line 44 of Figure 3, showing the lengthwise left section.

Figure 5 is a transverse cross sectional View, taken on line 55 of Figure 3, showing the left and right leg sections secured to the lengthwise front and rear seams of the house-coat.

Figure 5a is a fragmentary view of the crotch, similarly as shown in Figure 5, except a zippei arrangement is shown in place of buttons thereat.

Figures 6 and 7 are illustrative figure views, showing the duplex garment, when used in the walking and sitting positions by the wearer, disclosing the harmonizing effect of the coatdress and the inner panel-like element when the lapels or flaps partially are open.

Figure 8 is a fragmentary View similar to Figure l, of the waist-bodice section provided with buttons in place of a zipper arrangement.

Figure 9 is a front view similar to Figure 1, of much preferred form and design, of the duplex garment provided with a front zipper arrangement as shownor as otherwise desired lengthwise of the garment, in which event the lapels and flaps may or may not be eliminated.

Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 shows the front View of the duplex garment A, having an upper front waist-bodice blouse section Bfwhich is seamed at C to the upper lapels or flaps D, shown clearly in Figure 3. The lower revers flaps E are stitched to the front seams F of both left and right sections G of the garment A. These front lengthwise seams F, together with the rear lengthwise seams J, may secure the left and right leg (and body) sections H and I of the inner panel-like element LP, in the same seaming operation.

The inner panel-like element LP is provided with any suitable relief opening K at the crotch portion L, for example, such as a button flap arrangement M. If so desired a zipper arrangement N may be used, as shown in Figure 5a,

and is provided with an inner protective flap N, or any means for a relief opening may be adopted, or omitted, having means provided otherwise for a similar purpose.

In the leg sections H and I, the leg openings H and I are flared slightly as shown at P, see Figure 3, but this may be altered to a full straight seam as shown at Q in Figure 3a.

A zipper arrangement R is provided to the front waist-bodice section B, see Figure 3, and extends from the neck-line clear through the waist to the upper portion of the crotch L, see Figures 3 and 4. However, if so desired, any suitable means for opening and closing the waistbodice section B may be used, such as for example, a button and hole arrangement Z, as shown in Figure 8.

A sash or bow S is provided as shown clearly in Figures 1 and 2, for closing the lower lapels or flaps E of the duplex garment, and may extend through cord loops S secured to the back of the garment, see Figure 2, and a snap-button arrangement T and T may be used further to keep lower flaps E closed. The sash or bow S also secures the flaps E with the lapels D in their open position as shown in Figure 3, or if so desired, this may be accomplished in any other suitable manner.

In Figure 9, a duplex house-coat having a full front opening adaptable to be opened or closed by any suitable means, such as for example, by a zipper arrangement Z is shown, from the neck-line to the lower end of the inner panel-like sections H and I which are similar to H and I shown in Figures 1 and 2. A belt with any suitable adjusting and securing means may be used in place of the sash or bow S, with the duplex garment A which is also similar to the one already described in Figures 1 and 2, except the collar C is of different design. Seams C are continuation seam lines from the front seams F to which the inner panel-like sections H and I are secured.

In Figures 6 and 7, perspective illustrations show the adaptability of the duplex house-coat garment in the walking and sitting positions, and discloses the convenience of the legnette- 'pantee eifect should the revers flaps E open slightly, whereby the legs of the wearer are not exposed. The leg openings H'and I of the inner front panel-like sections H and I, and H and I are located sufiiciently above the bottom line of the duplex garment, so as to provide a freedom to the feet of the wearer for fitting shoes and for other conveniences. The integral unit assembly of all combinations of the robe, pajamas, coat, front dress and waist are quite evident in these illustrations.

In Figure 3b a fragmentary view showing detachable means whereby the inner front panellike element LP may be removed for launder- .ing and a fresh one replaced thereat, such as for example, by buttons B or by any other suitable means, this may apply also to the relief opening. Or, the inner front panel-like element LP may be as shown in Figure l to Figure '7, but may be provided with a center crotch-piece easily removable.

French seam J at back of duplex garment, see Figure 2, may or may not be a continuation from the rear seams J, at the waist seam W. Also sleeves S and S and collars C and C may be of other designs than shown, also the inner panel-like element LP as shown in Figures 1 to 8, and the inner trousers or leg sections H2 and I2 of the inner panel-like element LP as shown in Figure 9, may be detachably connected together with the outer garment in any suitable manner, such as for example by stitching, buttons or a zipper arrangement.

It is to be understood that the details shown in the accompanying drawings are merely illustrative, and therefore, I do not confine myself to the exactness of the constructed parts, or to any particular material of fabric, or to any exact model design, and to reserve all rights to alter any part of my invention which may come within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire by Letters Patent of the United States, is as follows:

1. In a duplex garment of the character described, the combination of an outer garment provided with upper front lapels connecting lower left and right revers flap sections having secured thereto about the full length thereof, an inner panel-like element forming an integral part of said garment, said inner panel-like element comprising an upper front Waist-bodice section terminating into lower trousers sections provided with a suitable relief opening, cooperating fastening means along the side edges of said trousers sections and along the inner surface of the outer garment adapting them to be detachably connected together, means to open and close said waist-bodice section, and fastening means on the waistline of the outer garment adapting the revers flap sections to be secured in their open and closed positions.

2. In a duplex garment of the character described, the combination of an outer garment provided with upper front lapels connecting to lower left and right front sections having secured thereto about the full length thereof an inner panel-like element forming an integral part of said garment, said inner panel-like element comprising an upper waist-bodice section terminating into lower divided skirt and leg sections, cooperating fastening means along the side edges of said inner panel-like element and along the inner surface of the outer garment adapting them to be detachably connected together, means to open and close said waistbodice section and the left and right front sections of said outer garment.
