A cover for smokers open top ash receptacles comprising a plate like member including an` inclined top portion having a central opening and a depending skirt iiange at the outer edge of the plate likemember, said inclined top portion being divided into alternate grid portions and plate portions, the grid portions being formed by alternate cross-bars and open spaces therebetween, there being stops formed at the inner ends of the grid portions, the plate portions each having an opening therein and said plate portions being conveXed-concaved upwardly to cause a cigarette or cigar placed thereupon to roll toward and onto the grid portions.

A cover for open top ash receptacles comprising a sheet metal plate-like member having a central opening -and a skirt flange, a plurality of spaced openings surrounding the central opening, said plate-like member being formed to provide alternate grid portions and plate portions therebetween, the grid portions .being formed by alternate bars, and open spaces therebetween, the grid bars being concaved convexed inwardly, the grid portions being inclined, the plate portions being convexed concaved outwardly and each provided with an opening therethrough.

A cigarette or cigar holder for open top ash receptacles including a sheet metal plate having a dished portion, a skirt ange therefor, said dished portion being characterized by a plurality of inclined grid portions, a plate portion having an opening between each grid portion, and said plate portions being curved upwardly from the side edges of the grid portions.

In a device of the character described having, in combination, an ash receptacle having an open top, a snuffer member projecting upwardly centrally from the bottom of the receptacle, the side wall surface of the snuffer member being inwardly `curved and merging with the upper surface of the bottomy of the receptacle, a cover plate for the receptacle including-an inclined top portion having a central opening and provided with a skirt ange to be removably fitted to the open top of the receptacle with the snuifer member projecting through the saidcentral opening, said cover plate including alternate circumferentially disposed grid portions and plate portions, the grid portions being i'ormed by alternate crossbars and open spacestherebetween,means formed at the inner ends of the grid portions against which the lighted ends of cigarettes or cigars are adapted to rest when placed on the grid portions,

'and said plate portions each rbeing upwardly curved and having an opening therethrough for the passage of cigarette or cigar butts, into the ash receptacle.

5. An ash tray having, in combination, a receptacle having a side wall and an open top, an upright snuffer post formed integral with the bottom of the lreceptacle, a removable cover plate mountable upon the wall of the receptacle serving as a top closure for the open top receptacle and having a central opening through which the upper end of the snuier can project, said cov-v er' plate having a plurality of openings surrounding the central opening, said plate being formed to provide a plurality of circumferentially arranged inclined grid portions formed `by alternate' downwardly curved cross-bars and open spaces therebetween. there being converging beads bordering the side edges of the grid portions and the cover plate portions between the grid portions being curved upwardly.
