This invention relates to an attachment for oil burning cook stoves.

The invention has for its object to provide an attachment for fitting within thetop opening 5 and under the cooking grill of the stove and which is so formed as to constitute a collector for any overflow or drippings from cooking utensils, such as pots and pans, and at the same time provide a protector for the lower parts of the stove, more particularlythe chimneys of the oil burners forming elements ofthe stove, as the collector acts to prevent the depositing on such chimneys of grease, water, soups or anything else that may tend to overflow through the grill of the stove and carbonize on the hot chimneys when the burners are active during the cooking operation. 1

A further object of the invention is to provide,

in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a collector m for the purpose referred to of a capacity to take care of any ordinary overflow from cooking utensils, such as pots and pans.

A further object of the invention is to pro-' vide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a collector for the purpose referred to of a depth to take care of any ordinary overflow from pots and pans,-having a capacity of approximately half a gallon, when set quite level, and yetnot of a depth to hinder the operation of turnback 3o chimneys now commonly used on oil burning cook stoves.

A further object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a collector for the purpose referred to which may be 5 adjusted for use on any standard make of oil burning cook stoves.

A further object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a collector for the purpose referred to for disposing below 0 and in proximity to the cooking grill of an oil burning cook stove and with the collector being so formed to prevent any hindrance to circulation from the top of the chimneys of the burners to cause the chimneys to choke up or smoke. Further objects of the invention are to provide,

in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a collector 5 sists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be more specifically referred to and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown an embodiment of this invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications may be 5 resorted to which fall within the scope 'of the invention as claimed.

The collector,'which also may be termed a drip or grease receiving pan, is to include a plurality of openings corresponding in number 1G to the number-of the oil burners of the stove and upstandinglcollars corresponding in form to and providing upward continuations of the walls or edges of the openings. The openings are to be disposed inthe collector in the same manner 1 as the oil burners are disposed in the stove. The openings are to be arranged directly over the oil burners. The body of the collector is to be arranged in such relation to the chimneys of the burners as not to hinderthe turnback of go the chimneys. By way of example, the embodimerit of the invention as shown is formed with a plurality of openings disposed in a triangular row for arranging above a plurality of oil burners also disposed in a triangular row. When the col- 5 lector is arranged in protecting position it is suspended in the top opening of and in proximity to the cooking grill of the oil burning cook stove. The openings in the collector are grill directly above the burners and on which are I to bepositioned the cooking utensils, such as pots an-dpans.

The embodiment of the invention as shown includes a rectangular plate I of sheet metal of the desired gage formed with wide rounded corners 2, front and rear longitudinal edges 3,

4 respectively merging into one end of the corners 2 and a pair of end edges 5, 6 merging into the other end of the corners 2. The edges 3, 4, 5, 6 are straight. The edges 3, 4 are disposed at right angles to the edges 5, 6. The plate I is formed with a plurality of openings, as shown by way of example three in number and indicated at 1, 8, 9. The opening I disposed on one side of the longitudinal median of plate I, intersected centrally by the horizontal median of the plate I, arranged between said longitudinal .median and edge 4, spaced from the latter and also spaced from the edges 5, 6. The openings 8, 9 are arranged'on the other side of the longitudinal median of plate I and spaced from edge 3. The opening 8 is disposed on one side of the of side portions I4, I5. The portions II correspond in contour to the rounded corners 2 and are flush with the latter. The portions I2, I3, I4, I5 correspond in length to and are flush with the edges 3, 4, 5, 6 respectively. The portions I2, I3, I4, I5 are of greater height than and merge into the corner portions I I. The portions I2, I3, I4, I5 merge at their upper ends into outwardly directed flanges I6 disposedat right angles thereto. These flanges correspond in length to the portions I2, I3, I4, I5 and constitute bearings or abutments adapted to bear against the lower face of the cooking grill ll of the stove I8 when the collector is mounted in the opening I9 at the upper portion of the stove as shown. The plate I is formed with a plurality of upstanding collars 2I correspondingin number to the number of the openings aforesaid. The inner faces of the collars 2| form upward continuations of the walls or edges. of the openings aforesaid.

The contour of the openings, and as shown the openings are by way of example as of circular form. The height of the collars 2! will correspond to the height of the corner portions I I of the rim II]. The diameter of the openings and the collars will be uniform and of greater diameter than the diameter of the chimneys 22 of the burners 23.

The reduced non-flanged wide rounded corner portions II coact with the ends of the flanged rim portions, which are of greater height than Preferably the collector will :be stamped from a single sheet of metallic material of the desired gauge, but it is obvious that the rim and collars may be formed separately and then secured to the plate.

What I claim is:

1. In a collector for the purpose set forth, a plate having wide rounded corners and a plurality of spaced openings .an upstanding endless rim integral with the plate and formed with spaced elongated high portions and spaced wide rounded low portions between and merging into the ends of said high portions, said lo-w portions forming upward continuations of the wide rounded cor-' ners of said plate and providing the corners of the rim, upstanding collars integral with the plate and forming upward continuations of the walls of said openings and spaced from said rim,

said low portions ofthe rim coacting with the ends of the high portions to provide selectable outlet passages to facilitate the discharge of the collected matter when dumping the collector, and outwardly directed lateralflanges at the tops of said high portions for removably suspending the collector from a support.

2. .In a collector for the purpose set forth, a plate having wide rounded corners and a plurality of spaced openings, an upstanding endless rim integral With the plate and formed with spaced elongated high portions and spaced wide rounded low portions between and merging into the ends of said high portions, said low portions forming v the corners of the rim, upstanding collars integral collector, and outwardly directed lateral flanges at the tops of said high portions for removably suspending the collector from a support, said collars being of less height than the said high portions of the rim.
