Each of the cards i2 is formed with a. line of perforations 18 extending along the width thereof and located between the extension portion i2 and the card proper for permitting thev card to be folded backwards along this line to permit the extension portion l2 to act as a hinge and remain in position with relation to the leaf to permit any number of cards to be folded rearwards to expose the face of any one card mounted upon the leaf.

ments I2 is of a width substantially equal to the altitude of the openings 16 so that the top of the extensions l2 will bear against the'junction between the altitude and hypothenuse of the openings Hi to form a pair of lock points on each side of said card. While the top edge is engaging against the said junction the bottom of the extensions will engage against the junction between the base and the hypothenuse of each of the openings to form a bottom pair of lock points on each side of said card. Thus each card has four lock points as clearly shown in Fig. 2, two lock points being located on each side of said extension portion for preventing any relative movement either .vertically or horizontally between the cards l2 and the leaves on which they are mounted.

One'of the side edge portions oi. each of the leaves, namely the one having the binding strip I4, is formed with a plurality of openings l9 which are adapted to be engaged by the pairs of ited to this specific construction as it is also possible to construct these sheets from relatively stiff cardboard or other similar material.

A rib 20 is embossed between the adjacent openings l6, as shown in Figs. 6 and 'l, for stiflening thematerial'located between the openings to prevent the-leaf from collapflng under weights placed on the edges thereof. These ribs 20 are embossed in the sheets after the leaves have been completed.

While we have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of our invention, it is to be understood that we do not limit ourselves to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. Ina loose-leaf record book, a leaf, comprising a pair of superimposed sheets secured together along their edges and formed with a plurality of superimposed openings arranged in vertical lines spaced from each other, a sheet between said sheets for separating said openings, said openings being formed in said sheets in pairs with respect to horizontal points along said vertical lines, a card for each of said pairs of openings and each card having at one side an extension formed with outwardly directed end elements engaging into the openings of one horizontal pair of openings for holding said card in position on said leaf, and ribs embossed in said leaf between reenforcing said leaf.

2. In a loose-leaf record book, a leaf, comprising,

a pair of superimposed sheets secured together along their edges and formed with a plurality of superimposed openings arranged in vertical lines,

spaced from each other, asheet between said sheets for separating said openings, said openings being formed in said sheets in pairs with respect card for each of said pairs of openings and each card having at one side an extension formed with outwardly directed end elements engaging into the openings of one horizontal pair of openings for holding said card in position on said leaf, and ribs embossedin said leaf between the openings of each vertical row of openings for reenforcing said leaf, said ribs formed in one of said superimposed sheets being concaved and resting against the sheet inserted between said sheets for raising the edges of said openings for facilitating the engagement of said end elements into said openings.
