This invention relates to toilet seat cover packages. It is particularly directed to a sanitary toilet seat mat or cover which may be folded compactly, and placed in a case to form a neat package which may be carried in the pocket or in a handbag.

An object of this invention is toprovide a toilet seat cover or mat which shall be adjustable to fit toilet seats of various sizes.

Another object of this invention is to provide a toilet seat cover of the character described which shall be easy to wash and clean, and which shall be easy to fold into compact form.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a neat and compact package of the character described comprising a folded toilet seat cover and a flexible case therefor.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a strong, durable and easily washable toilet seat cover and case therefor, which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, and yet efficient to a high degree.

An object of this invention is to provide a toilet seat mat that would make the public toilet in general a more sanitary place in which to enter and also to provide the individual with comfort.

Another object of this invention is to provide a toilet seat mat which through general use will help prevent venereal infection possibly caused by using contaminated toilet seats.

Still another object of the use of the toilet seat mat is to eliminate the possibility of pedeculosis pubic and various itch contamination by ordinary use of the public toilet seat.

Another object is to make the toilet seat mat with the toweling paper material so that it may be discarded immediately after use, or preferably a flexible sanitary material such as the oil silks or the thin oil cloth.

Another object of this invention is that it should be made to be carried in small packages that may be easily concealed on person, in pockets or pocket-b0oks in order that it may be ready for use whenever and wherever needed, be it in the home of a friend, in elevator or subway stations, or in a train, etc.

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.

In the accompanying drawing, in which is shown on of the various possible illustrative embodiments of this invention,

Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved toilet seat cover;

Figure 2 is a cross-sectional View taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the cover folded in half, illustrating the manner of folding the cover;

Figure 4 is a top plan view of the case opened up, and the folded toilet seat cover thereon; and

Figure 5 is a perspective view of the complete package.

Referring now in detail to the drawing, iii designates a toilet seat cover package, comprising a toilet seat cover II, and a case l2 therefor. The cover H has generally the shape of a toilet seat and is made of two superimposed similar pieces l3 and M of flexible sheet material, preferably oil cloth or the like washable fabric. The pieces [3 and M are stitched together by a concealed seam 15 all around, except at the rear edge It. To conceal the seam l5, the pieces I3 and i i are stitched together all around, except at the rear, with the wrong surfaces to the outside. The stitched together pieces are then turned inside out, and the seam H at the rear edges I6 then made.

The toilet seat I I is preferably split at the front, and provided with overlapping portions i8 at the front, carrying complementary snap fasteners Hi. When used for a large toilet seat, the snap fasteners I9 may be opened and the side portions 29 and 2! of the toilet seat somewhat separated to fit the toilet seat. The front ends of the side portions 20 and 2|, on the inside thereof, and adjacent the overlapping portions l8, may be cut away to provide a notch 22.

The case I2 is likewise preferably made of flexible sheet material, for example, oil cloth or the like washable fabric. Said case may also be made of two superposed similar sheets stitched together around the outer edges by a concealed seam. The concealed seam may be made by stitching the pieces of cloth with the wrong sides out, and then turning the cloth inside out through a small opening or portion left unstitched, which may thereafter be closed by stitching. The case !2 has a central section 25 of substantially rectangular shape. Extending from the sides of the section 25 are flaps 26, and extending from the top and bottom of the ends of the section are flaps 21 provided with complementary snap fasteners 28.

The toilet seat cover ll may be folded about a longitudinal axis thereof to the position shown in Figure 3, and then again folded to form into a compact flat form, in which form it may be placed on the section of the case, as shown in Figure 4. The flaps 26 are then folded inwardly over the folded toilet seat cover. The bottom flap 21 is then folded over the folded flaps 26. The top flap 2'! is then folded down over the folded lower flap 21, and the snap fasteners 28, snapped together to complete the package. The package may be carried in the pocket or in a handbag, and may easily be Washed, and can be kept in sanitary and clean condition.

The toilet seat cover may also be made of coarse toweling paper either foldable into the case, or used loosely and discarded after use.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A toilet seat cover comprising a member made of flexible sheet material having the shape of a toilet seat and being split at the front, the split ends of the cover being overlapped and provided with quickly detachable fastening means for attaching together the overlapping portions.

2. A toilet 'seat cover comprising a member made of flexible sheet material having similar top and bottom superposed portions stitched together along their edges, said member being split at the front, the split ends being overlapped, and means for detachably attaching together the split overlapping ends of said member.

3. A toilet seat cover comprising a member made of a pair of similar superimposed sheets of washable flexible material, having the shape of a toilet seat, and being split at the front and formed with a central opening, the sheets being stitched together by a concealed seam all around except at the rear edges, said rear edges being stitched together by an unconcealed seam, the split ends overlapping and provided with quickly detachable fastening means for attaching together the overlapping portions, the adjacent edges of the cover at said split having a cut out to form a forward extension of said central opening.

4. A toilet seat cover having generally the shape of a toilet seat, and made of two superimposed similar pieces of oilcloth, stitched together by a concealed seam all around except at the rear edges, said rear edges being stitched together by an unconcealed seam, said toilet seat cover being split at the front and provided with overlapping portions at the front carrying complementary snap fasteners, the front ends of the side portions of said toilet seat cover, on the inside thereof and adjacent the overlapping portions, being cut away to provide a notch at the front of the toilet seat cover and on the inside thereof.
