My invention relates to finger ring constructions and has as one of the principal objects thereof the provision of a combination ring construction wherein tworings, such as a wedding ring and an engagement ring, while separate and separable units are so fashioned that they will interlock, one with the other, in substantially a single unit when worn together upon the finger.

Another object of my invention is to provide a ring construction of the character 'described equipped with means for interlocking said rings together in a manner to preclude relative axial and rotary movement of said rings.

A further object of my invention is toprovide a ring construction of the character described wherein the mounting of one ring fits within the mounting of the other ring and coacts therew'th to simulate a unitary ring construction.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a ring construction of the character described capable of being readily assembled and disassembled and Which is economical in manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claims and annexed drawing.

In practicing my invention, in the preferred embodiment illustrated in Figures l to 5 inclusive of the drawing, I provide a pair of rings adapted for interlocking connection with each other to form a single unit. One of said rings constitutes a wedding ring 5 and the other ring an engagement ring 6.

The wedding ring 5 comprises a band 'I defining a finger opening 'Ia and is fashioned on the outer periphery thereof with a relatively thick wide and elongated mounting 8 formed with a susbtantially ovate shaped opening 9 extending therethrough and providing a pair of spaced under faces III and l I integrally connected to the band at the ends thereof. The under face Ill extends laterally a greater distance on one side of the band 'I than the under face II` and is undercut on each end thereof to form a pair of oppositely disposed seats and rib sections I2 and I3 respectively.

The ends of the rib sections at the jointures with the band are formed with notches IlI for a purpose hereinafter set forth.

The engagement ring 6 comprises a band I5 defining a finger opening I5a and is formed on the outer periphery thereof with a mounting IB provided with upper and lower faces I'I and IB respectively, said upper face being equipped with stone settings I9 of an ordinary character. The mounting IE is of a substantially ovate configuration fitting within the opening 9 of the ring 5 and the underface I8 of said mounting is contiguous with the inner peripheral face of the band I5 whereby to effect registery of the finger openings 'Ia and I5a with each other. As in the instance of the mounting 8, the underface I8 extends a greater distance on one side of the band I5 than the other and opposite to that of the under face III of the mounting 8.

The ends of the band I 5, adjacent the mounting 8 and on their outer peripheral faces thereof, are provided with notches I9' coacting with the notches Ili of the rib sections I3 to effect interfiting therewith. The ends of the band I5, adjacent said notches I9', seat Within the seats I2 and thereby interlock the rings 5 and 6 together as a unit and preclude relative axial and rotary movement of said rings. When it is desired to disengage said rings from each other, the mount- 35 ing 8 is withdrawn downwardly through the opening 9 and by a reverse operation the rings may be readily connected together.

In the modified form illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 the outer face of the band 20 adjacent the mounting 2I is provided with a pair of recesses 22 and the inner face of the offset portion 23 adjacent the mounting 24 of the band 25 is likewise provided with spaced recesses 26 for accommodating therein the recessed portions of the band 20 when the bands are in assembled condition. It will be noted that the mounting 24 of the band 25 differs from the mounting of the band 5 of the preferred embodiment in that said mounting is disposed laterally and only on one side of said band.

It is to be distinctly understood that various changes and modifications may be resorted to in the construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention or scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. In a finger ring construction, a pair of abutting ring bands defining registering finger openings, one of said bands fashioned with a mounting formed with an aperture and provided with an underface formed with oppositely disposed seats and notched rib sections, the other of said bands formed with a mounting fitting within said aperture, said last mentioned band adjacent the mounting thereof formed with notches receiving said notched rib sections in a manner to effect seating of said last mentioned band within said seats to preclude relative axial and 'otary movement of said bands.

2. In a finger ring construction, a pair of abutting ring bands defining registering finger openings, one of said bands fashioned with a mounting formed with an aperture and provided with an underface formed with oppositely disposed seats and notched rib sections, the other of said bands formed with a mounting fitting within said aperture, said last mentioned band adjacent the mounting thereof formed with notches receiving said notched rib sections in a manner to effect seating of said last mentioned band within said seats to preclude relative axial and rotary movement of said bands, said last mentioned mounting equipped with stone settings and coacting with said first mentioned mounting to simulate a unitary ring structure.

3. In a finger ring construction, a pair of abutting ring bands defining registering finger openings, each of said bands fashioned with oppositely disposed offset sections including one overlying the other, one of said sections fashioned on the inner face thereof with spaced recesses, the other of said sections fashioned on the outer face thereof with spaced recesses coacting with said first mentioned recesses to effect overlying of one section relative to the other and disposing said sections in abutting relation whereby said bands are locked together against relative rotative and axial movement.
