The principal purpose of my invention is to provide a water-tube boiler which will give a maximum life to the tubular coils and provide for the quick and convenient cleaning of the said coils thus preventing the scaling and mud burning of the coils. In order to clean the coils it is only necessary to unscrew the caps 28 and conmeet them with a source of water supply which may be chemically treated if desired;
It will be noted that the circulation of water in the boiler is through the conduit 29 from the pump to the lower header, through this header and into the coils by means of the nipples 25, the unions 24, the nipples 23 and the couplings 22. The water flows upwardly through the coils, reaching the upper header by means of the upper couplings 22, the nipples 23, the unions 24 and the nipples 25. From the upper header the steam and water flows upwardly into the steam drum 30. In the duplex type the flow of water is the same but flows through both coil groups simultaneously, into a common steam drum. The Water level in the drum is preferably as shown by the dotted line 3|.
It will be noted that a further improvement is attained by extending the pipes 45, connecting the headers with the steam drum 30, upwardly above the water level, while the pipes 43 and 44 from the water supply pipe 29 to the said drum end at a point below the water level in the said drum. The object of this arrangement is that when blowing off the boiler or washing out the steam drum, the mud and scale which has accumulated along the bottom of the drum will be washed out through the pipes 43 and 44 and not through the headers of coils. These pipes also add greatly to the rapid circulation of the ,water and steam in the boiler.

In a device of the class described, the combination of a case containing a group of spirallycoiled water-tubes, said coils being nested within one another and adapted to be heated by suitable heating means; a lower header connected to a source of water supply, said header also being connected to the lower ends of the said coils; an upper header connected to the upper ends of the said coils; a steam drum connected to the said upper header; means for detaching any one of ISAAC GOLDBERG.
