Description

March 1, 1938. 1 BLECHMAN STORAGE RECEPTACLE WITH SLIDING CLOSURE Filed Nov. 13, 1936 INVENTOR. //?w/v MPw ATTORNEYS Patented Mar. 1, 1938 PATENT OFFICE.
STORAGE RECEPTACLE CLOSUR EWITH SLIDING Irving Blechman, Bronx, N. Y.
Application November 13,
1 Claim.
This invention relates to receptacles constructed of light weight, inexpensive sheet material and has particular reference to a receptacle of the said character having a sliding closure preferably of a rigid type and with means for guiding the same during the opening and closing movements thereof.
The invention provides a receptacle of the said character which is so constructed and arranged as to insure a sealing engagement with the closure thereof when the same is in closed condition so as to preclude the entrance into the receptacle of insects, dust and other agencies injurious to articles stored therein.
The invention further comprehends a receptahollow body structure including a rear wall, fortudinal edges thereof, the plies vided with registering openings defining a mouth for admitting to and removing articles from the hollow body structure, "together with a closure panel slidable between the said plies into and out of closing relation with the said mouth.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, reference is now made to the following specification and accompanying drawing in which there is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, while the appended claim covers modifications and variations thereof which fall within the scope of the invention.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a front view of a receptacle constructed in accordance with one form of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view therethrough taken approximately on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken approximately on line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a similar view taken approximately on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing by characters of reference, the receptacle is preferably constructed of light weight, inexpensive sheet material such as corrugated cardboard, paperboard and the like, and includes a rear wall l0, oppositely disposed side walls II and I2, a front wall l3 and opposite end walls I 4 and IS. The front wall I3 is of double ply construction comprising inner and 1936, Serial No. 110,863 7 outer plies l6 and II, respectively which have longitudinally extending rearwardly directed flaps Is at the lateral side edges thereof which overlie such as the fastening elements IS.
The said plies l6 and ll of the front wall l3 are provided with portion framing the openings in the plies l6 and H. The openings 20 in the said plies l6 and 11 provide a mouth for admitting to or removing articles from the container. A closure panel 2|,
posite end edges of the plies end walls and the space between the plies of the front wall.
Preferably the walls I, H and I 2 of the repact arrangement for storage or shipment. The end walls l4 and I5 preferably include marginal flanges 22 which telescopically fit over the oppothe rear, front and side walls and suitable removable fastening elements 23 retain the same 1n assembled relation. Any suitable manipulating means, cured to the closure 2| for shifting the same to and from its open and closed positions.
What is claimed is:
In a receptacle, a hollow body structure including a rear wall, forwardly directed side walls, a double-ply front wall each having rearwardly such as the handle 24 is seand out of closing relation with the said mouth, with the marginal edges of the panel overlapped by the said framing-portions to seal the same when in closed relation with the mouth and said plies of the front wall being compressed in close relation at the lateral side edges thereof so as to tension the mouth-framing portions of the plies to trictionally retain the closure in shifted position.
