IMPROVEMENT IN METHODS OF MANUFACTURING ARTICLES 0F WOOD.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 210,229, dated November 26, 1878-; application filed September 18, 1878.
which is usually expensive. The object of my invention is to provide means for economizing wood in the manufacture of picture-frames and other articles.
The invention consists in sawing from a plain board or plank concentric or similar figures, and also single figures, with beveled edges, so that when-projected they will develop an irregular surface with close-fitting joints.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a plan of a sawed but undeveloped pictureframe. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a de' veloped picture-frame embodying my inven tion. Fig. 3 is a section, through a b, of the undeveloped frame. Fig. etis a section, through c d, of the developed frame; and Fig. 5 is an elevation of the developed frame.
The method of construction is as follows: Any desired pattern is marked on the surface of a board and sawed out on a bevel. The bevel may be reversed when desired, as illustrated in the model and accompanying drawings.
What I claim is- The method of manufacturing articles of wood by sawing from a board or plank a nest of two or more figures, with beveled edges, in such a manner that when the figures are developed they will wedge, one within the other, forming a rigid body, with close-fittin g joints, substantially as shown and described.
